I have use weed to manage my asthma for as long as I can remember and have had only 2-3 medium size attacks in the last twenty years, usually when I ran out for more than a few days. Does anyone else here practice this?
Mrs B
I have asthma, and although I have read that it can relax bronchial spasms, weed tends to aggravate it for me when I smoke. It's better through a bubbler to cool and filter it, and I'm going to start using a vaporizer and see if that helps. Eating it (cooking in brownies, pasta sauce, etc) is MUCH better, for anything that ails you, IMHO. :)

I use the other popular asthma meds daily but notice I get that tightening of the chest and that feeling like I cant get a full breath when I run out of herb for more than a few days. The other thing that happens to me when I dont smoke anything for a few days is my lungs get a chance to heal uninterrupted and they start to get a feeling like mild itching from the inside and gives me the inhale-tickle-coughs.
I have tried the eating thing but the dosage thing is hard to figure and the highs are pretty different between burning and digesting the same strain. More than often I'll eat too much and just get all nappy as I think its easier for the body to digest those types of cannibinoids from thc.

Lamont, that tight feeling in your chest is anxiety. Your nerves are fiending for weed.
Mrs B
Could be anxiety, but asthma does that, too, especially the itchiness. Don't ya just hate that? Make you want to reach down your throat and scratch the insides of your lungs.

Yeah the itch sucks, I'll even smoke a cig or two to ditch the itch. Been thru too much dookie to be anxious about much of anything.
Well except when Bush's state of the union address threatened to tap into Foxes 24 series time slot. Picked a bad time to give up Tivo for lent.

I had an idea today. DOn't know if this would work, but... Okay, I have a nebulizer, which basically atomizes the medication (albuterol). Now, we know THC is soluble in alcohol, right? And the albuterol is in a weak alcohol solution... so, why not put a little kief into the medication cup with the liquid, and use the nebulizer like a vaporizer, only without the heat? Seems to me it ought to work, at least to some degree. The worst than can happen is that you wouldn't get very high, and if it gummed it up, you might have to replace the medicine cup, but those are cheap and replaceable anyway. To get a dose of THC along with the albuterol might be a big kick since it's stimulating anyway. I'll give it a try and let you know if it works.

All I know is that would send my lungs ballistic with an allergic reaction. I can smoke weed and eat it prepared but will break out in hives if fresh plant material comes in contact with any skin beyond my fingers and palms. Im always in a long sleeve shirt when I tend garden and I absolutely have to have a respirator on when pollenating. Even a few grains of pollen and Im snotsville for the next six hours.
