After 7 weeks of 12\12 1000W light, my plants are about 3 feet tall, and have some really good bud formation. The problem is, they just won't firm up. They are loose (I mean...Really loose!) and still have about 90% white hairs on them, but a lot of the fan leafs are starting to yellow. I have kept the ph at 6.6 approx., and used quality nutes, with bud enhancers...still nothing!
Is it the strain? I use other strains and don't have this problem, but with this one, the same thing has happened 3 out of 4 grows? I'm lost! The one good time, it was a decent yield.

this happened to me one time but it was because i failed to give then the attention i should have. do you flush? do you have air directly on them? what kind of reflective material you usin? are you loosin light due to overspace? check your watts per sq/foot.

Thanks for the reply's
1000W covering a 5ft by 4ft area, surrounded with Mylar 4 feet high. Lots of light. I have flushed. Checked the PH and EC every watering, and sprayed with Nitrozyme. I don't have the fan on always, but that never made the same difference in other grows

PS. the light has a 3 foot round reflector, so it spreads it around quite evenly

perhaps it has a really long flowering time

If it's a 100% Sativa, it could take up to 10-11 weeks.
The color of the pistils is not always a reliable indicator of readiness. If possible, you should check the trikes with a magnifier. I use one from Radio Shack that was 10 bucks and is 100X power. The trike method is a matter of personal preference as the the color/cloudiness desired.
You didn't mention the Strain in your original post. Can you tell us?

1000 watt hps in a 4 x 5 area. Plants should love it. I think you know your own answer. The strain. If they don't look bad other wise they're just not ready. That light of yours, believe me will make dense buds on plants. I get what you're saying jerky but I believe that pistil color is a fairly reliable way to at least get you in the ball park which is all some people have to go with. It's gut gardening and it does work. Be one with your plants. A picture would speak a thousand words.
I know I'm going to get slammed for this but, and remember I haven't seen this plant, if it were mine and I thought it was going to have to flower for a couple more months, I would mix 1/4 cup of piss with 1 gallon water and feed it to her to curtail that N2 defiency a little.
Here come the critics.

Several factors for loose buds: Low light, high humidity, strain, low PK..with what you've said i'd be inclined to say it's strain related. Although 3 ft tall doesn't sound like a sativa to me.
