I'm going to make Hash oil with all the leftovers from my girl, currently pictured at day 42. Someone tell me if this super simple/cheap method will actually work. I forgot where I found it.
Take all the leftover stuff and soak in the highest % alcohol I can find. I'm thinking 99% iso or denatured (is that what it's called, and where can I find it) alcohol. Soak for 24 hours, or as long as I want. Separate plant material with some kind of filter (maybe coffe filters or cheese cloth). Pour onto cookie sheet(s). Leave to evaporate in a warm place. Scrape into piles as it's evaporating...and end up with some nice smokable, potent as fuck, hash oil.....
I read this a few weeks ago and I just wrote what I could remember. Does this sound correct? Does anyone have any suggestions to make it better?
Also, I can't seem to remember if I have to simmer it or something...and if I do, would that be before or after I separated the plant material?

That's the first I've heard where you use alcohol. That would scare me. I would rather just use the ice water method myself.
Of course you'll have to buy one of his Stealthboxes but it'll be well worth it. Look in his signature for his different boxes.

Yeah the alcohol scared me too....but the article seemed very well written by someone who knew what they were talking about...
Anyone else use alchol? It seems if simmering was involved it would cook out...also it would mostly evaporate. Is there another, safer sovelnt to use?
The article actually said Everclear was best but I am only 19 so that's out....

ok, found it. this is not the original one I read, but it's about the same -
"Alcohol hash: The weed is ground and then put in a beaker. Isopropyl alcohol (91%+) is then placed over the weed, about twice the volume of the cannabis. An inch of water is put in the sauce pan and then the beaker put into this. The alcohol is heated up for around 40 minutes to an hour. Then the green liquid is poured onto the pan (the water will have evaporated) leaving the solids in the beaker. The sauce pan is heated over an electric stove till the liquid starts to evaporate. The last two steps are reapeated until the right consistency is required. The hash is scraped off of the pan."
I see, the simmering would definately cook away the alcohol. this method looks like it might be the one I will use. Has anyone else?

I have used the alcohol method before along time ago. That's how it makes the oil. Alcohol is a solvent and reacts with the weed to bring out the chemicals of the weed. Once the solvent is boiled away you are left with the oiley tar that is the shit you're after. You do have to simmer the alcohol off which can be dangerous. I never really liked it as much as the fresh bud. Especially for the risk.

Yeah I am going to save all the bud. This is only for the trim leftovers. I was going to make cannaoil for cooking...but decided I might be happier with hash. Never tried it....
It's so pathetic. I have this beautiful plant and to be honest, I have never even rolled a joint or blunt lol. Just pipes/bubblers/bongs.
And I don't think being too high will ever be my problem. I have too much tolerance....also, I was going to mix in the hash with bud when I eventually smoke it.

You go cannagirl. I really think you'd like the hash method that is in the faq. Look up easy hash or something like that. Sounds much better than oil to me. I'll be back with a link.

Do u mean the one with the screen? Yeah that looks very interesting too.
If so....could I buy a screen from home depot or lowes or something and make it work? And if so, what size...I mean, how big are the holes, very fine I imagine. Is there a measure for that?
