yeah Imatommyboy I read u were fine and we made light of how cannabis lives in the wild.
What was the point I missed?

Thanks Wild Bill – seems like it was an error on my part!
Bloody anxious business this!!
Cheer again,
iantommyboy
Joe – you missed nothing, seems I did – apologies!!
I know that patience is needed here but I just want to make sure that I give them the best chance of survival – first time from seed.
One other thing – the condensation on the lid of the propagator, should it be wiped off now and again (there is quite a build up) or should everything literally be left alone until they start to show?
Cheers,

In nature the seedling pushes into medium under the conditions it will grow.
I'd keep humidity somewhere real with where they have to live as plants once they are plants.
any sprouts?
Wild Bill
I'd leave the condensation alone. When you see the sprouts come up out of the dirt, get rid the dome and get them under your lights. I know that anxious feeling. Your in for a fun journey.

funny responses.. all kidding aside though... all you have to do is wait a few days to a week.. and dont worry.. sounds like its all under control. everyone over thinks their first grow. but thats the fun of it.. just make sure not to over water and over love them... keep an eye out and check them daily. and problems you dont know. post it. people will help you if your not sure... good luck

I’m trying to chill out more so that I’m actually alive to be able to enjoy the fruits of my labour!!!!
OK last night I noticed that around 75% of all seeds have started to show a sprout, no movement from the others. I took the lid off and placed all of them under 2 x 55w florescent (will the light harm the seeds that haven’t sprouted??)
Havent had a chance to check them today but I’ll let you know the score on them when I have – hopefully not cooked (the bulbs do seem to get a little warm but I’m presuming that may help the buggers grow)
Thanks for your advice, I’ll keep you posted!

it's a crap shoot.
if they lay in soil they sometimes sprout ten days later or maybe even more. There was a lotus seed found in the deep cold water , in some lake in India. It was dated at over 1000 years old. Guess what? It sprouted and grew a tree. So as a genetic trait I'd say the long lived seeds merit a consider but, I digress.
Fresh can sprout in as little as 2 days I have seen. Older will take longer.
Your setup favors the fresh. Imo.
What are they going into may I ask?

No they'll love that light. They say to germinate in the dark but that is because, naturally the seeds are under dirt. But, the sun is still out. The way I do mine is soak the seeds in water for 24 hours (got that trick fron these forums). I then place them in Jiffy pots filled with jiffy mix. And put the jiffy pots in the dirt in the container that the'll grow in their entire grow (eliminates transplanting). I then put the pot under the light. When the seeds bust through the dirt they are greeted by the sun just as they would be in nature. For this grow (started less than two weeks ago) I had 100% germination rate. Here's the idea:
The light was on the entire time. You just have to be very careful not to let the dirt get dry.
