When handling nutrients/fertilizers, wear gloves.  Remember what nutrients are--mainly animal shit of it's chemical equivilent.  Dishwashing gloves are ideal.
And when handling dry nutrients, as well as pearlite/vermiculite, wear a mask too (one of those 79-cent painters masks will do).

Excellent advice, RangerDear! Also, wear gloves when treating for pests, even if it is a homemade concoction, or says 'safe for humans and pets'. And try to stay up wind! The same goes for rooting aides. You do not want any of these potentially dangerous substances on your skin, in your face, or even on your clothes, where it could possibly be transfered to pets or children.
earth girl wishes all the grobros to stay safe and happy!
