once every three to four days.when the soil starts to dry out they like dry feet most people water to much. the way I do it is ,I wait until the leaves start to droop, then I water as that way the roots get some oxygen to . there are many ways to do it as everyone has there own way of doing things hope this helps you Dan

I agree. I average twice a week.

I also add peroxide with some waterings. Diluted of course. This is adding oxygen.

I understand wise words are, Water well then let dry out then water well again.
a lot depends on the environment; on how fast soil will dry out.
Over watering can cause problems with oxygen blockage at the roots. Roots need oxygen.

I like the idea of adding peroxide to the water for added O2. Thanx!

I use the dry/soaked container test. I feel the weight of the container when they are dry. Then do the same when they are soaked. I can tell a few days after watering if they need it or not by just lifting the container.
Keep in mind that you want to let them dry out a quite bit before each watering. As Randy says, it helps the roots to 'breathe'.

On average how much water do u add per plant?
jerkypete
Depends. When they're first starting out, they take about a 1/2-3/4 gallon per 3 gallon container. But that lasts about 6-7 days. When they've grown, it's about one gallon per container, but I water/fert them every 3-4 days.

I determine when i need to water by sticking my finger into the soil about an inch, if it is dry then i water again, this usually averages every two days. Heat is a factor of the transpiration rate of water throuhg cannabis. If the temps are high, then the transpiration rate is high. I never like to wait until the leaves droop because that can cause damage to plant cells. I think the best way to determine the amount of times one waters is by experience, it totaly depends on what your enviornemnt is like as well.
