Pests and Plant Problems
I mite!!!!!

i mean, I can see them moving steve. My question is whether they can surviveon the wall, fan, shelf etc.... or if they require plant matter daily to survive.

LOL @ Wa. Hard to resist taking nice new introductions in...I know it all too well. People need to understand that indoor gardens are VERY isolated from the outside world and should be treated as such. One pest and/or harmful organism gettiing in can fuck the whole system up in a big hurry.

yeah, you gotta be careful about that stuff. i hear of people putting their plants like out on the balcony or in their back yards during the day to get natural sunlight, and i can see how easily it would be for some bacteria or some spores of something could get on your plant and fuck everything up.

i have actually never heard whether or not the mites can survive when they are on the 'long trip' to another plant.

i know it must SUCK not knowing:(

hmmmmmm, I'm not clear on they're longevity without plant material, but they will most cwetainly "hitch a ride" from plant to plant, via you, your clothes, your pet, even airborn to some extent.
I too know that, they will go into some form of "stsis or hibernation" if left withoutplants to feed on. That is, if you empty the room for 6 months, then fire back up thinking they're all gone. You will be re-infested.
You will need to do an extensive xleaning. Use a weakened solution of bleach, and clean it like you were eating from it. Then repaint. Remember, it only takes (1) one surviving female, to regenerate the entire problem very quickly, and the new ones will be more resistant to the samr treatments.

Another note of interest. They seem to prefer migrating/escaping, by going ^ up. AFOAF harvested with a huge mite infestation. By hanging the plants upside down, and wrapping 2-sided sticky tape aroung the stalks, was able to capture large numbers.

have you tried a diluted pesticidal soap solution?

someone had mentioned that to me the first time i got SM's. i didnt want to do it, cuz putting soap on a plant just seems like a sketchy problem-solver. but i've heard it mentioned on this site as well.

wawona
yes steve.  I mentioned using the homemade faq method.  it contains dish soap.  I also mentioned have 3 store bought solutions.  1 of them is a pesticidal soap, one is neem oil and not sure what the other is.

this lil venture has put me way behind.  I was just getting things up and going with the perpetual growing.  I don't know whether to finish these plants then clean and refill the room or just go ahead and kill these dirty bitches, clean and then satrt over

I appreciate the input.  thanks

hey maybe if nothing else, you can cook those bad boys up and make some cannabutter or something. i'm sure once you put them in a boiling pot of half and half, they wont exist much longer.

shit i'd hate to see you lose 3 AK's too man...

I think the missing piece of information in the decision making process is the level of your stash.  You got enough to keep you going until the next go round grows, flowers and cures?  Or do you need some of what's growin, and flowerin' here to get you through?

AQNother question I had regarding pestulance.  If you're dealing with a small enclosed space, has anyone ever tried using those "No pest strips", I think they were made by Shell.  Not the sticky ones, the ones that used an airborn insecticide?  Seems that they might work in a small enclosed space with little or no detriment to the plant (and soon to be smokable) matter.

the level of my stash is critical.  the 2 WW i had to pull early, due to this problem, had a decreased yield.  In the past i have had a single crop with several plants and a larger yield and then start over from scratch.  i was gonna start harvesting a plant or 2 every month or so and replace that with a vegging new feiend.  If i have to ditch these then I have nothing ready to follow.  The clones I had were from these plants and I also had to ditch them.

It's a conundrum to say the least.

See if you can't trade a conundrum for a concubine.
