the hairs just arent turning brown!

cheese420
ok its gettin like really damn cold up here 40 degrees f, but the hairs just arent changing, i am wondering should i just do the deed and harvest em now, or should i still wait for the hairs to turn, some of them are, like i would say 10% and i know everyone says 70-80% but its raining all day and this cold temp, i dont know if its gonna freeze or what, can anyone throw some input into this

EDIT: these are outdoor plants and i know its not the right thread forum but this is a plant problem!

they can handle a cupl of good killing frosts i think. don't judge "ripeness" by the color of the hairs. judge by the trichomes.

buy a good magnifying glass.

ok i got a good magnifying glass that a use to solar puff (which is so fun) soo wanna tell me what I should be lookin for, i mean, there is the uhh "crystals" all over the leaves and bud....
wawona
the color of the majority of those "crystals", also known as trichomes, determines the "ripeness" of the buds.  most people will tell you to harvest when most trichomes are cloudy with a few amber mixed in.  totally preference because diferent harvest times = diferent buzz

so what your sayin wa is that i need to focus more on the trichs other than the hairs, or do the trichs make up the color of the hairs, cause if what ur sayin is that i need the trichs cloudy white, with some orange, i think i can harvest within the next day or two

that's exactly what i'm sayin'

DO NOT PAY ANY ATTENTION TO THE COLOR OF THE HAIRS  the color of the trichs is not reflected by the color of the hairs at all.  go by the color of the trichomes alone.

well im confused, i mean i have never bought bud with white hairs, so is outdoor like that, like i have taken a snid-bit of my plant and dried and smoke it and it was really nice (homegrown is always such a better high, knowing u grew it) but i know you, WA, say that it doesnt matter about the hairs, but i dont want white hairs, do they change color after curing? or what... with the answer to this post i can finally decide to harvest or not... i just am worried of all the white hairs, by the way, the hairs are milky white if that means anything, set me straight WA!!
