i harvested my first grow a couple weeks ago. it dried almost to a crisp in about 3-4 days, then i put it away in airtight containers. ive been smoking it since then and its been smelling better and better.
but then suddenly two of my containers started smelling strongly like ammonia at once. i remember reading that this is bad, so i took the buds out and let them sit out for an evening, after which the were REALLY crispy almost too crispy it seems...but after i put them away they continue to smell more and more like ammonia.
IS MY FIRST CROP RUINED?

What strain(s) are you talking about that smell this way? Some strains stink to high heaven, and some can smell like urine (Jack Herer). Can you see mold on the buds?

when i rip it up, wispy smoke-like spores are released. also thre bud smelled like fruit 2 days ago now smells like ammonia, unmistakably.

From what I've read you need to lay it on some newspaper and let it air.
How does it taste? Has it lost potency?

i only know one of the three strains, and its DP power plant. it tastes kinda different, but i still get high as fuck.
my guess is they started rotting, and when i took them out for 12 hours i stopped it. the damage is already pretty much done though, this weed used to smell GREAT. now it smells like, well, cat piss.
since i still get high from it, my question is, should i just sell what i have of the questionable stuff? is it safe to smoke it? i already have been but wondering if i should stop.

I think it's ok to smoke but I'm not an expert. I imagine we've all smoked worse.

Never inhale mold spores! Don't smoke moldy weed! and if you sell moldy weed to people then they are never going to come buy weed off you again. I don't sell weed anymore, I have to much responcibilty to get fucked for that now, but when I did sell weed one thing I learned was it's all about repeat customers. Only sell good weed, and throw them an extra .2 on the scale. Thats how you get them comming back.
