is it good for a first time grower?

well its the only light there that looked good, and its not like theyll burn if i water them properly, and i cant go back...for specific reasons...just tell me how i can make this work, they didnt have T-5's or i would of been allover that, and my budget speaked for itself...

Those halogens put off much more heat than light.  You'll have to keep it so far away to keep from burning the plant that it won't get enough light.  I don't mean to be negative but that's how it is.  You'd be much better with a flour. shop light.  Seriously. On a tight budget the shop lights are best.

It doesn't have anything to do with how often or how much you water.

We can't tell you how to violate the laws of physics or biology.

To get a plant close enough to a halogen to do any good light-wise would burn the plant. Simple no?

Before you waste anymore $$, I suggest you read a grow book. Find out what works and what doesn't.

    Hey Dude.

Besides which, halogen lights don't put out the the type of light spectrum that MJ needs to grow healthy & flower. Sorry.

    wawona The Trichome Connoisseur

Not only is halogen way too harsh a light it does not put off the correct spectrum to grow quality marijuana. Not really even close. Neither do regular house incandescent bulbs. total waste of time.

you would be much better served with 1 $10 flourescent than with 20 $10 halogens.

you can buy a 2 pack of compact flos at walmart for about 12 bucks-the spectrum of light your plant receives from halogen is not correct -

WILD BILL ANSWERED YOUR QUESTION, DONT USE HALOGEN. AT LEAST GET A 7.99 SHOP LIGHT FIXTURE AND INSTALL SOME UV BULBS FOR A GRAND TOTAL OF ABOUT $15.00, LESS THAN A SACK OF MEXICAN.

NOW GET THIS BITCH ROLLING CHRONIC!!

NEVER MIND YOUR OBVIOUSLY A DUMB **** IF YOUR GOING TO: NOT READ FAQS,ASK A BUNCH OF DUMB QUESTIONS AND THEN NOT LISTEN TO ANYTHING YOUR TOLD. QUIT WASTING PEOPLES TIME.

PUT THE HALOGEN AS CLOSE TO THE DEAD PLANTS AS YOU CAN THEN SEE IF YOU CAN SMOKE THEM??

I had a friend that tried the halogens a few years ago. He had the lamp in a cold attack about 2 feet away from the plants. In one day it killed them all (3). Turned them to green crispies. He He had two more seedlings that he tried to put under the light with the light back further. They just dropped over from lack of light. I'm just saying I've seen it before. Just passing the experience on.

Take the light back to Walmart. Get the largest Flourescent bulb you can find and stick it 2 inches away. That'll be better.
