    Hello how are you going.
Just found this forum and i would like to say that it is an excellent forum.

Now i have looked alot on the net saved alot of setups and faq's and threads i got alot of reading time ahead of me.
Just hoping you could answer these questions to me so i can go from there.
    Thankyou.

I am from australia and yeh starting out in hydroponics.

Hope you can help me with this as this is going to help me out alot thanks.

My budget is about $500 Australia dollars or around there but i will spend more if needed.

I am hoping to use a grow space of about 80 cm in width, 60 cm in length and about 1 metre high.

Just wondering what is the different hydroponic setups you can get and make Eg - (Bubbler,Flood And Drain,Ebb And Flow,NFT etc)

How many plants do you think i could grow in an area that big minimum and maximum ?

What HID lighting setup should i go for ? MH Or HPS and what wattage for a grow room that size and that many plants ?

What fans do i need ? - Only a Outlet and Inlet fan for my grow setup ?

What medium do you think is best to use ? Perlite,Vermaculite,Canna Coco, Rockwool and/or any others ?

What guages do i need eg - Ph,Water,Temperature and any others ?

What would be a good or great pump to use and what wattage would i need. I got told that u need 1 watt per litre ?

What would be a good or great heater to use and what heat would i need ?

What is the best relective material i am thinking panda film.

How much wattage do i need per square foot ?

Thankyou hopefully i will get a few replies and go from there thankyou.
    Bye

Hey thanks for the replies everyone [IMG]

Now as u know i have saved alot of faq's threads etc and been reading up on them.

And the main setup people are using is the bubbler setup but what i need to know is with a bubbler do you run them in tubs or buckets ?

Here is the guide i am using at the moment for my setup.

Lighting - 600W HPS Lighting Kit.

    Cupboard - 2m high - 1m width - 3/4m in length.

    Fans - 2 Outlet fans (1 HPS Cooler) + (1 Outlet fan)

    - 2 Inlet fans

    Reflective - Panda film.

Tub - 50Litre tub (If i use the tub setup)

Buckets - 30 Litre buckets x 3 (If i use the bucket setup)

That is what i will be using just depending on if i should go buckets or tubs ?

What do u think of the setup and what do u think i should use ?

    Write back thankyou.

I will add more info as i work out more stuff thankyou.

    Bye

    hi,

from your size of room and climate isn't a 600w going to heat your space alot? Sounds like 400 or a well insulated 250 may do the job.

For me I'd have a resevoir connected to each self contained pot, just raise the res level and flush, top up from there too. Saves the hassel but not as versitile for trying different feed rates/strength.

I feed onto rockwool and drain back to res, always on with 400w. Works fine, although my other room is fed for 2 mins every 1 1/2 hours and chucked. They too look very fine!!

A cf trunceon is a must if recycleing the feed and my ph has always been fine, so i hardley ever check now, just ad a drop to test tube and shake, cheap and works well!!

Mostly the fish shop, plastic box shop and only feed and wool from the hydro shop. My set up cost about £300 all in and my controller is £100!!Light £120!!

You don't have to spend the money to grow the weed, just look and copy!

    Best of luck1

I would say to use the 400 or 250 as well. For that size space, 600 is running things high. 400w will do you very well, as will the 250w.

I also say to use the buckets. For only three plants they are very easy to maintain.

Bubbler buckets work great, just suspend a net pot so the bursts of water from the airstone hit the bottom.

Change the water every week or two, flush as normal and you will do fine.

You are on the right track to a good harvest, good luck and good growing.

    Hey.

What rectangular tubs should i use ?

    For 4 - 6 plants.

    45L

    65L

    80L

    90L

What do u think i should use for a bubbler setup ?

Also should i tape the bucket with black gaffer tape to make it darker ?

    What do u think ?

I also saw a canvas portable cupboard $50 at Big W.

    160H - 90W - 50D

Canvas covering, canvas floor, and zipper ?

Do you think it will be approproate ?

    Write back thanks.

yes, i believe you should wrap your buckets (heavily) to make sure that you're blocking out light. light-colored buckets allow light to enter and cause algae to grow.

that's a sure way to hermi your lady, from what i've read.

The first cupboard you mentioned was bigger and more suitable for your requirements.

As far as the tubs, volume really isn't an issue, as long as it deep enough for root support. You need about one sq. ft. per plant, start flower at 12" height. Bubblers, I would get for buckets that fit in the room. 3-6 gallon (12-24 liters) capacity.

    Australia Rocks dude.

I would try suggest setting up a small perpetual Bubbler type grow. For this you can buy a 400 watt HPS, 2x 18watt dual fixture flouros, a large and a small cupboard, fans, air pumps & stones buckets and such. If you are short on $$ for the panda film just use flat white paint to start and then upgrade after you pick.

To get a good pick happening you can try a larger rectangular container with a few small pots in for the main bubbler under the 400w for the flower room.

This is a 75litre container, I have 2 different lids fo it as I run 11x 6"pots for a SOG or 4x 6" pots for larger type ladies (average 4oz/plant@ 2 weeks veg).

As air is the most important thing when running bubblers, try for the largest airpump available and experiment with your stones. It is hard to stress that the better the bubbles and air output, the better the overall growth of the plant and root system.

Running these containers I can fit two in a 1m sq. x 1.5m deep room and put out around a pound a pick under a 400w HPS.

This is made easier if you set a mother and clone chamber.

Set another bucket up for your bubble cloner and mother veg bucket.

Here is a healthy and fresh new mom. This clone spent 2 weeks in the bubble cloner and so far 1 week in a seperate bucket under a HID.

    Roots at 2 weeks.

Bubble Clones at 5 days under flouros.

    Bubble Clones at 14 days.

They should do all right under the flouros untill you may get a few more fixtures or another HID, (I personally prefer the flouros at this stage).

Once you have aquired and built your system all you have to do is set your gameplan for your grow, plant your seed, sit back and watch them grow.
