this is my first grow and my plants are 2 weeks old. they are about 5inchs tall. they are starting to limp over just alittle bit. i have stakes holding them upright. is this a problem or not really?
It can be a problem, but sometimes it isn't Sometimes they're just too damned heavy to hold themselves up, sometimes it's because there's not enough light, and sometimes it's due to overwatering. It's probably overwatering or light. If you're convinced they're not overwatered and they're getting plenty of light, try holding them up with a toothpick or a bread-tie. Within a few days, they should start holding themselves up.
If Its An Indoor Grow.....Get More Light And Keep A Fan On Them........The Fan Keeps The Stem Strong......Otherweise They Just Keep Stretching Till They Fall Over
cool trick I remember from an old HT...take a piece of a plastic straw, split it down the middle with a razor, and wrap it around the stem....this will act as a non invasive brace, allowing it to move freely with the wind of the fan, and holding it up....
id agree, your light is either too close,,or you overwatered,,,, proably the light,,too close and that baby will lay over in a matter of minutes,,,i know when i first hooked my light up,, on seedlings about 5'' high, i put the light too close,,,and it layed one over like id sucked all the juice out of it,,,,, upon raising the light, all straightened out,, and no problems afterwards,,,your on the right path,,, the first grow should always be bagseed,, to get the bugs out of your setup,,,youd cry if you killed all of them,, and you paid for those seeds,,,,a good distance to keep the light all thru the grow is 16'',, good luck,, on this grow and many more in the future
