hey guys I need some help. I'm wanting to take some cuttings from the lower portion of one of my flowering plants. I'm wantin to know if I can get more than one clone from the pictured branch under my hand.
I would guess you can get 4 off of that branch, 3 topped clones and one regular. Keep us posted if you go for it. Good luck H
They should be good , I use jiffy waffers, and a humidity dome for 8 days then transplant. edit, I would be more worried about having enough fan leaves, the ones on the bottom usually yellow up and die after 4-6 days, but by then fresh growth is coming up like a banshee. I also use the cheap rootone and I'm 10 for 10 with clones rooting in 2 different batches.
sorry for this stupid question but im new, what are those little balls in the pot?? what do they do??
Thats a grow medium for hydro, a type of medium for the roots to hold the plants up, sometimes call hydroton, but I think thats a brand name.
I've always thought yoou were supposed to clone from the bottom because those are going to be the farthest away from your light and thefore produce the lowest yeild, but hey if it works go for it. H
a lot of people use clones like that, myself included. however, clones taken from the top or middle are more likely to root. due to the fact that they are usually thicker and a bit more "hearty".
hey guys these are the pics of what I did. tell me if I'm headed in the right direction. also, note the very small budsites above some of the clones. should I cut them off or leave them alone and just keep them on 18/6? /monthly_2006_04/clonepic1.jpg.4d6be86fc63a560f9409d5ea770e36ba.jpg /monthly_2006_04/clonepic2.jpg.0a8926a5d99269e80253990ad7e4aeb1.jpg /monthly_2006_04/clonepic3.jpg.b837fdf8cc1fd403dbd8b4d47bb93237.jpg /monthly_2006_04/clonepic4.jpg.7b8b1c2c1deadf3af514ddf6ae0df9f8.jpg /monthly_2006_04/clonepic5.jpg.f36f0168204c2d19f4a9c44e24c12bb7.jpg /monthly_2006_04/clonepic1.jpg.949e0e2f5a5c6f2f0dc0cc9e32d544a7.jpg /monthly_2006_04/clonepic2.jpg.6f0c6b6e736b3bf9950b27c010fa7cd6.jpg /monthly_2006_04/clonepic3.jpg.b6b0ede14fdc97c72457c59b8612e975.jpg /monthly_2006_04/clonepic4.jpg.62c03734654d68801fcca3da32cf9e6e.jpg /monthly_2006_04/clonepic5.jpg.3b08399ce3409b26e7fafb6701bcfe3c.jpg
Very Nice Job, I would say you did a Excellent job, wouldnt have done it any other way with the bottom branch, here is a pic of my cloner, an example of how i clone. /monthly_2006_04/cLONER.JPG.77da07896cf6900091bf3a5517c08ba7.JPG /monthly_2006_04/57a6c8e011887_cLONER2.jpg.1b576c695e2dec136e124ef9152355e9.jpg /monthly_2006_04/cLONER.JPG.fee02b91dafc23d62756dab2091b1a7c.JPG /monthly_2006_04/57a6c8e21b0e3_cLONER2.jpg.18b9df055e2bddaf420d5f08d05d1701.jpg
nice setup. this is my first time w/clones. don't have a propogation mat yet but the flouros on top keep my space quite warm and I have a open pan of old solution in there w/the clones and seedlings. plus my light and ballast keep the entire room warm during the day. I've got to log back on as administrator to send a pic of my new seedling and cloning area. I just set it up last night so I'll see how it goes.
how wet should jiffy wafers be when you put a cutting in them and how wet should they be kept. it seems like i can't clone for crap lately of the last dozen i have tried to root only one has lived i thought that i was doing it the same as always but the last few baches of cutting have died on me
Jiffy pellets need to be saturated thoroughly. To the point that they look like they're going to burst out of the netting. Or just until they stop expanding. It takes about 4-5 minutes. Squeeze about 10% of the water out of them and you're ready. www.urbangrower.com has a free quicktime video on cloning. He uses jiffy pellets. Pay attention.
