yellow guys, finally gonna start growin again, grow 1 went well (indoors) however building a house is alot more work then i thought it was, and i just got the foundation done so im gonna be awhile on my personal grow room.
anyways that shit aside, i can't stand it any more im growing outside.

This is how i was gonna do it:
10 plants, started inside then moved to 5 gallon buckets drilled/rocks and buried in the ground. now heres the problem, I am seriously to busy now to mess with all those buckets, not to mention i don't with to spend all that money on soil for em either, O yes I'll need a shit load more o my fox farms 2.

what i want is an alternative to buckets, I have ideas like diggin a hole lining it with a tarp and filling it with soil, but that sucks 2. I guess what i really want to do for this grow is just use the natural soil and its not like I'm busting out my WW seeds or something for this grow i save them babies for when i can do it right.

so the bottom line is, can i use just natural soil? providing the Ph is ok I'm thinking why not? its a rich loamy soil(new england) and I'm sure it lacks nutrients but thats whats ferts are for right? if I can use the soil, I'm starting in peat moss pots and ill just put em right in the ground, start givin em light doses of nutes and build up the strength after awhile. watering also won't be an issue. so any outdoor vets see any problems with this?

p.s. just in case you missed it, I'm not trying to do things right on this grow, this is a -I-don't-giveafuck-causeIain't-gotthetime-todoit-right, grow:D

yeah i would go for the natural soil if i were you, as a matter of fact i just now got back from planting my new outdoor spot,

what i did was tore into the ground in this area and cleared a spot, i ripped up or killed all the damn roots (from other plants and growth concealing the spot) in the area and then i put a bag of my own soil on top, slightly mixed in with the natural earth soil. i had some seeds i started in those sponges yu know where the roots grow out the bottom and its like shotglass sized, well yea. i put 6 of those suckers in perfect holes in that soil/earth area. will check in a week and let you know too.

but plants grow in natural soil all the time, in shit ass conditions too so if you can tend to them easily i would say go for it

I grew outside in new england for a few years...the only thing that can potentially be your fault, is watering...animals will eat your herb...so spread it out...make sure you have water nearby,...or at least throw some water crystals,...just a small handful in the bottom of the hole...I don't know how much it helps...but it's never hurt me...I wouldn't put a bucket in the ground..I tried that one year and it didnt drain quick enough duing a bad downpour and my 3 foot tall plant got obliterated with water and wind...the most important thing is to put the plants where you have never seen anyone,...ever...

Hey now OXY if you can pick up a soil tester kit that will save you a lot of trouble. I know you dont give a shit about this one.. but if the soil is fucked the plants will be even if you add nutrients. Digging knee deep holes is best, but if its the labor you don't want I would use 5 gal buckets, filled with good soil. They will need a bigger container overtime outdoors, so just cut the bottom out of the five gallon bucket and stack it onto another, then you have instant rootspace. I believe a long time ago this tip was posted im not sure who it was but he grew out in the swamp with cammo painted buckets and it kicked ass. Maybe someone can chime from back then and refresh my memory.

ya i just been out scouting for good spots found a nice one about 10 yards from a brook on some nice high ground,(the brook runs deep in a vally) im heading out right now with my soil tests to check it out, and just to be sure im also gonna go about 5 in 5 gallon buckets(sprayed Dgreen). its a real nice spot, you can't see it from anywhere except the air. hope it tests ok. im gonna mix some of my bag soil in with it 2, for a boost. I'll let ya know how it turns out, and good idea danny i'll put er ta good use:D

ok heres the deal, it was a no go, mostly clay, no matter how far i went in, and then i spent the rest of the day picking ticks off of me, i musta went through a nest or something cause when i got home i had about 5 on my back and the were under my shirt(i was wearing 2 layers so hard tellin how long they was crawling around on meh)................course i freaked out and only found 2 so theres a few ticks crawlin around my bedroom room:mad:

well i got 10 plants going right now, i guess ill sexem keep 3 females inside, and if theres anymore F's then throw em outside in buckets, somewhere not so tick-infested.

i'll keep u guys posted, and by the way, does that off bugspay shit really repel ticks? or is it just bullshit, cause i've never seen it stop one.

Another alternative that I prefer to buckets is Growbags. They are available in many different sizes including 3,5,and 7 gallon. Any agriculture near you?

Another way for you to save some jack on soil would be to mix your fox farms ocean forest with any of the following, Coco coir, Peat moss, perlite, sand, and don't forget to add a little pulverised dolomite. Coco is great to add because it retains moisture. One possible negative to Ocean forest outdoors is seeing it is made from crabshells, and shit it does seem to attract more varmints. Grind up some habanero peppers, then mix with water, and then strain through a cheescloth. You will have an excellent repellant for most all of gods creatures:rolleyes:

Tick infested hmmm sounds like a good spot to me. Sound like you have some hiking to do to get there and thats a good thing.. When I in the past scout for an outdoor spot I try to want my plot to be where knowbody would want to go. Poison oak, Poison Ivy, coves on mountain sides, basically places that are not easy to get too. Can't wait to see some pics dude..

ya its definatly a place where no one wants to go, not even me:D, but i guess i am going to use that spot, just gonna go the bucket way. after all it least it has a water source real close, so what if i have to pick ticks off me all day?

i sapose i'll get some pics next time im out there, i want my plants a bit bigger before they go out side, gotta sneak all them buckets and soil out there 2, man thats gonna be a bitch. so about that tick repelent.......any idea's?

My dog swears by Frontline... lasts for about thirty days and absolutely no tick problems... not sure about any side effects for humans though. However, it may enhance effects of smoking the herb?

As for outdoor in ground grows...

I've had fairly good success by removing top 18 inches of soil (and rocks, i'm in new england, too), then loosening the next 18 inches of soil. Mix ferts, peat moss (approximately 1 to 1 mix of soil and peat moss), water crystals, into loosend soil in bottom of hole and soil that was removed, then puting all back into hole. Hole diameter should be almost as wide as it is deep for best results.
