My plants are starting to sprout and im not sure how often I should water them or use miracle gro. (MIRACLE GRO WATER SOLUBLE ALL PURPOSE PLANT FOOD) CAN SOMEONE HELP?
Dont use miracle gro, its not meant for marijuana plants. You may begin fertilizing your plants after 2 weeks of growth from seed. I would make it maybe 3 weeks to be safe. Use about a 1/3 or 1/4 strength for the first time, then gradually introduce it to more as you go along. fert them every 1-2 weeks. (Edited by Danno33 at 6:32 pm on July 25, 2004)
you can try any of the listed : Earth Juice , Pure Blend Pro , Technaflora B.C. Plant Nutrients , Fox Farm Marine Cusine 10-7-7 Organic .. there are more . i suggest you read up in the FAQ , & a few other forums .. peace kennyde
It has been suggested to me if you cant get the organic stuff you would be better off using peters 20-20-20 for vegging its the best of the chem's
Hi high lander, welcome! Forget about ferts for now. your little babies will not need or even be able to use fertilizers for a while. Those cute little round leaves are like baby food, and will get your little ones off to a good start. Be careful with the water. don't pour it right on the plant's base, water at the sides of the container. Only rewater when that outer soil against the pot begins to dry out. (I'm assuming you have them planted in 16-20oz containers. Better if you describe you basic set-up.) Miracle grow is a rather harsh fert, but not impossible to use. It must be diluted much more than suggested on the package. More like pinches than fractions of a spoon. The all purpose is better used on your flowerbeds. I managed a 'successful' grow using Miraclegro for tomatoes, and Miracid for pH control. At best it's ok for a totally unaware nubi. But that was me, way back before I had internet support. You can go to tens-of-dozens of sites and get all the info you need to make a successful attempt at growing the Grand Dames of Ganja. Don't try to count on getting all your info second hand. There is a grow guide available right here at GK. It presents itself as being for the nubi who doesn't care about theories or speculation, who just wants the basic instructions for a proven system. There are also free guides available out there. The more you learn about how to grow happy plants, the happier you will be. eg
earth juice grow is good stuff to use , VERY stinky !!! you wont want to use any ferts though for the first 2 weeks .. once u do begin to use ferts , you have to startout gradually !! use only 1/4 strength ! & increase it as you go along ... too much N , & you'll kill your plants . again i can't stress enough on ,, reading up on your new hobby ! cheers kennyde
Earth girl has just presented you with a great tidbit of info here. I do agree though that sometimews ferts are hsrder to get and sometimes $$ comes into play. Miracle grow aint the best out there but never believe it wont work. I have seen 28' outdoor girls that yeilded round 7lbs fed on nothing but miracle grow alone, the whole cycle. Just my 2 cents.
7 lbs.??? I'm switching to MG!!! lol seriously tho, ....I too grew many years OD with nothing but mg, or Peters. It was what was available, and I knew no better. Definately NOT top o' the line,IMO,.. but it will do the job.
I agree I have grown with MG and peters, and like some of the older memebers hear, I remeber some used to do the samething, I U sed I think it was mg tomatoe food 15-30-15 or something, thru the whle grow. It works, no doubt about that, just flush flush FLUSH!!!!! (Edited by 420solo at 1:41 pm on July 29, 2004)
