I'm growing the Dutch Passion White Widow, and also Blueberry, when I look at the buds of the White Widow, the smaller leaves, are turning purple, and the buds, have purple in them too.. is this normal? It's lime green, has lots of crystals, but I see purple in the bud, and starting to show in the leaves. This wasn't there before. It all started when, my Blueberry plants, wern't purple, or the buds were not purple, so I added a fan at night, in hopes to lower the night temps to help bring out the true color of the Blueberry plant, which it did, I now see a change in the color of my Blueberry plant, but during the past week, I also seen a change in the color of the White Widow, the buds are now starting to get purple in them. I'm freaked out, but also, happy, I though the White Widow, was going to be white, with red hairs, which mine has, but didn't expect the purple.. anyone eles see this happen to their White Widow plants?
Purple Widow Scorpio...I remember looking at a Purple widow strain awhile back from De Sjamaan. When I first asked about them, they said only have of the original batch showed the purpling trait. I'm sure the cooler temps activated the purpling of your WW. I'm sure all will be well in the end! Seeking Utopia Be glad the whole thing didn't purple like mine did necessitating an early harvest:
Thanks for the reply, I did the search, and found the same strain you showed me, it's called Purple Widow, but the seeds I have are just plain White Widow, but yes I did figure that, a lower night temp will intro the color of the buds...purple. I lowered the night temp for my Blueberry, because that didn't have any purple, untill I put the fan in the closet at night, but it just freaked me out, when I saw purple growing on my White Widow, because that appearence, is White, with red hairs, but now that I see purple, growing, it looks super rad!! This should be good bad appeal. Did anyone else get purple with the White Widows?
currently growing WW... definatley gunna try lowering the temp at night when she gets a night... purple buds are always cool
I wonder if it works with all strains, but wow it shocked me.. just lower your night temps, with a fan, or ac, it brings out the purple, in both the White Widow, and Blueberry.
i'm a total noob with growing and stuff, but i was wondering: isn't that bad if you lower the temps just to get a lil purple in your bud? i didn't think that it was too good for the stuff to do that.
Eh I have grown in the low 40s at night in a shed. The weed turned out superb. I'm not saying you should go out and purposely freeze the planties, but I had no choice and they came out great.
Purpling Green Goblin, Scorpio is not pulling his WW because its' buds are purpling on him...he just pleasantly surprised. I on the other hand got hit with a hard frost that caused on a few for the ENTIRE plant to purple...in which it dies shortly thereafter. After a look on my trichs, I realized that I could harvest anyway, they're just less along than I would have preferred. Cheers! Seeking Utopia
i am also growing dutch passion WW. In your opinion(s) would this case apply to all seeds from the same strain/company? (basicaly can i drop the night temp to get purple-ness)
Ishmeil, I believe the purpling trait is only found in certain phenotypes, you may have it, you may not...either way you know you have a decent White Widow nonetheless! Cheers! Seeking Utopia
right but my WW is from from Dutch Passion (aswell as Scorpios purple-showig WW). Because they are from the same breeder would this heighten the chance of having coloration or does it rely more on environmental conditions?
I was thinking my White Widow plants would be white, and have red hairs. Since I was doing a Blueberry grow, with my WW, I wanted to bring the purple color out of the Blueberry plants, to do this you lower your night temp, but I didn't think it would, make my WW turn purple too. Ishmeil, it should work, if shoud do the same to your WW, but it depends on the genetics of the seed you germ, like my other BB plant had def leaves, which made it a low yeild, and my other BB was perfect, huge yeild, prob the biggest yeilding plant I have grown!!! I want to say one of the colas is 3-4oz of bud, but I jogged my plants, and there are still more colas on that BB, I could end up with over a 1/4lb of bud on the Blueberry. but it should still work. What is weird is the genetics of WW has no purple in it's background, from Brazil, but I could be wrong.
the purps are in the genetics. i think 30% of mj strains have the trait, but most if not all need low temps for the color change. 73 degrees or lower at all times will give you the purps if your genes will allow. ive even tried humboldt countys "purple max snow storm" additive an didnt see any color change in either of my ak-47's, or my affi's. i saw more trichs in my ak's, and over all more bag appeal in both, but no purps during the hot summer months in my affi's which have the genetic potential. i already knew that without the genes nothin short of a can of purple spray paint would work, but i was hoping for the purps in above 73 degree temps. btw, i think all affi strains can get the purps. i cant wait to see what colors this winters temps will bring for my garden.
