irollbackwoods : Why yes you can. Most folk will pick out the cool white tubes and mix with warm white ie blue and red types.

As always the more light the better but, to start or to work with less cash fluor's are okay.

When I started out I had a home made rack of 6 shop lights so 12 40 watt bulbs or 480 watts.

I used bubble wrap type reflective insulation for a wall around the area.

I grew one plant that was better than anything I have grown since but that had to do with the genetics.

Guess you can say get some great beans and have plenty of light and you may well smoke the best bud of your life.

flos decrease the bud density- size and they grow s l o w. but! it is possible!

As posted above the yield is the most obvious difference between HID and fluorescent flowerings.

Here are a few shots of fluorescent-flowered buds:

If you are going to end up just using lots of fluoro lights, you might just want to invest in a smaller HPS, like 150-250. You'll end up using the same amount of energy and probably get more lumens. The only difference is the amount of heat generated. I am using a compact fluoro for vegging, and my setup is real amateur. All i have is a computer fan for outake, with no ducting. It just blows hot air away from the plants and spreads to the rest of the growroom. I know better, but I continue on. So far they aren't growing so fast. I'm wasting the light, but it keeps me busy for a couple more minutes a day. I think you might just want to get some smaller HPS light for flowering. I'm telling you this, and I've hardly ever grew indoors, but I just know. HPS is just more intense, unless maybe you have 2-3 125 watt cfls. Also, if you are using fluoros for anything, you should probably have replacement bulbs, because they lose intensity rather fast. What sucks the most about my current grow is that I bought an "Envirolite", which involves an irreplaceable bulb. That's right. It comes with the cord and bulb altogether, and I can't buy replacements. I have to buy a whole new thing. Next time it will just be 2-3 Flourex lights for vegging.

i grew 7 oz off a 250w hps and the buds were fairly dense. not too bad at all. the flo's will not be that much cheaper but the bud will be a lot shitter!! trust the hps it well worth it!!!
