8 years of GK. + advice for newcomer

I meant to post this ~ Nov 1 of this year.

It's amazing to me, I took my first toke of weed on Oct 17, 2001. In the time between then, and when I joined I realized how much I loved MJ, and did NOT want to buy it. I wanted to get the exact indica/sativa ratio I wanted with the exact high I wanted. I've come, and gone, and come, and gone, etc etc. It's been a great amazing ride, a lot of what I've learned, I don't remember. What I do remember though is this is the best online community I've ever been apart of, not just MJ related. This site to me, has been like that perfect circle of friends that it takes a life time to develop. Those 8 or so people that all truly get along. I've moved around, I've carried on the tradition of passing on the knowledge I've learned here.


This is going to sound so lame, but I see my own life in the way I learned to grow. Over thought everything, wanted numbers and predictions for everything. Couldn't figure out what it was I was doing wrong. Then I get it right, and immediately want to do the next best thing. I've found myself going back to very first idea I ever had(organic soil etc.) for growing at the end of this cycle of growing for me in my life. I will probably never leave this site. I'll always be around. I just live by my instincts and by my dreams(literally). I've always gotten out of illegal activities in the nick of time. I know it's time to be completely legal for awhile.

If I had some stuff to say to any new comer it would be the following:
NUMBER 1!) Show the elites that reside here some FUCKING RESPECT. These guys have it, they don't NEED this site, they are carrying on a long tradition of passing on the knowledge. Remember, YOU'RE the one asking questions. Do not be an asshole. If they rag on you, or tell you your plants suck, or tell you your not listening, guess what? THEY'RE RIGHT. Just shut up and listen. I've jabbed back in my day, it served me about as much as 85 year old waffle house waitress with a walker, feel me?
Ask the right questions, and you will get the right answers. Sometimes, it's good to treat this like an NA meeting, listen to everyone. Find yourself somewhat of a sponsor to PM. Be perfectly clear on what you have to work with, what you want, and what your budget is. I look back now, and think of the new guys I've met that I talk to now, there is so so so so much time you can save yourself if you just ask the right questions, and let go completely and let someone guide you. One of the most time consuming lessons I ever learned growing MJ was, it is so simple it's complicated. Then once your master that, it's so complex, it's complicated. The most hidden lesson I learned, that was always right there for me to see, just not spelled out was this. G-E-N-E-T-I-C-S, you're not going to have an olympic swimmer who's a midget. In that first ten pack of seeds you get, guess what, your female is probably NOT going to look like the female you saw in the magazines or internet. That's their prize bitch out of possibly 500 seeds. You need to keep a male, cut that bastard down, put that pollen up, and make you some more seeds, never stop searching for that UNIQUE EXOTIC specimen. The M.J.(Michael Jordan) of MJ. Never give up, if you are like me, and started trying to grow soon after even trying it. Don't give up. I pulled 7 - 11g dried off my first two plants. IT was very dank, but nothing for the time I spent. When I started pulling ounces off each plant, it was spoiling. Me and my other were spoiled so fast. Smoked 8.5 oz, in 6 months. I gave a lot away though. I'm just rambling now, . JUST KEEP COMING BACK, DO NOT GIVE UP, LISTEN to those who REALLY know, if you don't know who really knows, pick someone who's been here awhile and ask them who you should talk to. Oh yeah, and save up a solid $500.00 MINIMUM before you even think of starting up a nice indoor grow.(shit adds up)

Congrats man, and nice post. Since I'm still a n00b and haven't been here that long I can't say much. I've had 1 grow that went terribly and I've decided I need to go indoor and learn all the techniques, so I've just been silent here on the site, skimming the FAQ, reading good posts, enjoying the people. And I too will one day grow the dankest of the dank but, baby steps. you got to drink the sparkling grape before the wine. Or something like that lol. Anyways, good post, good lesson, good GrowKind!

This man right here ^ he schooled me back when I was a baby still. He explained the system of making your own organic soil to me. If MrGJ says something, you guys listen. He's in the top 5 people who I owe everything I've learned to.

 

Not really a quiet one. I might have said this in the original post. I've come and gone. Life has happened. I found women, drugs, and other things that have taken me away. I always find my way back home though. I love you guys. I mean that. It's all about quality not quanity. I've gone inactive for over a year at a time, during different times in my life. Also, I lost this login info AWHILE back, and made a new name I can't remember, then did ANOTHER under Apophis. Herb compiled Apophis with my original WiZaRD account though. ;-)
