I currently have some Sam The Skunkman's 'Thai Haze x Skunk 1' I've heard these old school original haze hybrids are very difficult to grow, especially indoor. Surely there is topping that can be done to keep the height down some right? Also, I've REALLY REALLY been wanting one of these strains that I read about in a 5 page article about the History of Haze in a weed magazine. His name was mentioned with the utmost respect. I might use this cross as a father/mother for one of my own crosses, hopefully using a strain who's background isn't very clouded, perhaps a strain with solid afghani background. What do you guys know about Sam, also. What do you know about the bud, and it's difficulty to grow!
I've been growing that strain for a couple years. It's a super up high with vertical growth to match. You'll have to do some training or topping to grow indoors. Once you have clones you can go straight to 12/12 with no veg time to cut down on stretch. Mine takes 11 weeks to flower. Here's what this strain is capable of indoors...
Wow, that is an amazing plant. Is it truly a connoisseur strain? Is it a TRUE breeder? Meaning, you can use the father or the mother? I bought these. I plan on possibly ordering some Jack Herer like I've said in other posts. I want to get back to the most ORIGINAL strains I can get my hands on. I'm going to do 5 of the 10 the first go around, and breed the males with the females under marked branches. I want to keep as many genes as possible. I've found myself wanting to go back to the early 70s and learning my way up from there. My ultimate goal for now is knowledge, and to start breeding again. I'm going to use this next two to three years to get a stock of seeds of the strains I want to take with me to my new home, where I will be growing legally and finally living my dream.
Hey Wizard! I am also glad you started this thread, as I have some of Sam the Skunkman's Original Haze x Skunk 1 seeds... Almost popped one this go round too. But don't have enough room. Interested to hear everyone's experiences with these seeds. Peace -LM
Thanks for the info HHHguy...that is one sick tree in that photo. How much did you pull off that? great work. I dont think I will let mine run wild like that though, not enough space....thanks B4E..:beerchug-2:
The seeds are old and hard to germ. Skuff the outter husk before soaking. They are (Thai x Haze) x Skunk #1. They very sat dominant. I have seen people taking them 100+ days depending on pheno. If you notice in the Pic HHHG threw up, the grower of that plant (forget who it was) the plant is not under the light. The grower found it did better off to the side of the light. It should handle and prefer higher temps. 85 will be fine. Dont overfeed, sati's can be finicky about nutes. The buds produce a great cerebral high, as expected. Not sure what you mean by true breeder? In what respect? It has thai genes, so you always gotta watch for hermi's. But I think Sam did a pretty good job of selecting that out of the line. There will be different pheno's, it is a polyhybrid. JH is also a polyhybrid, and not really "old school". But the original Sensi seeds had some great pheno's in it. If you want to preserve the genetics in a line, open pollenation is the only way. Multiple males and females in a massive orgy. Enjoy!
Thanks. Let's go a bit further. I'd like to somewhat re-direct this thread to the Origins of Haze and the difficulty of growing strains like. Sam The Skunkman seeds, Neville's haze and crosses, Jack Herer etc etc. Here's my situation with the babies. I am germinating some White Rhino right now as well. I know they are completely different, and will have different needs. SO, I was wondering how the Thai Haze x Skunk 1 would do in the higher temps because if I am confident in it enough I will let these go outside. This will be in North Florida/Southeast Georgia weather. I can have it in ~10 gallon pot placed directly next to a pecan tree, so from helicopter or airplane it will be very hard to see it. It'll be guerilla.
It should grow nicely in those temps. I would just watch it in late season cause she might go through December on you. You could always induce flowering indoors, and then toss em outside before normal flowering onsets. They should continue to flower and finish up before the new year. LOL Also, I added a link on the history of Haze in your other thread.
I didn't grow that tree pictured above, but the grower said the harvest filled (10) 1gallon bags. My plants have to stay under 24" tall so training is a must with all sativas, especially THxSk.
Recently grew some and will get some more. They grow very, very tall. Topped and trained mine and still had to hold it down thru flower. Great up, happy high. Still have some and will break it out tonight!!!
This is a bonsai mom THxSK that was put into flowering 40 days ago... It finishes in 11 weeks so it is just over half way done. It's in the same 16oz container it's been in since the mom was created months ago and the roots were never trimmed. In my small setup I don't get a lot of bud from this strain, so I usually turn it into amazing hash.
a friend of mine used to grow down in beverly hills FL, out doors and never had a problem with temps really, most strains would be ok. Thats mid to northern fl on the west coast. i think he was growing WW and something else not sure... he was coolold fishing buddy of my from when i lived in FL
