whats up guys? my plants i got going are like about 5 1/2 weeks old and in 12/12 and i thought i would try and take some of the fan leaves off...im not sure if that was a good thing or not, cause it seemed like it would to me so some of the budsites would get more light.

Dont clip your fan leaves, Fan leaves have many stored up nutes in them the plant will use, If some fan leaves are blocking bud sites simply move them. I find training the branches inbetween the fingers of the leaves is the best method so both your buds and fan leaves will get light.

i started my plants from seedlings and i havent heard too many people train them when starting from seeds...whats the best way to train them since my branches seem to be so far from the soil?

by training i mean just moveing branches and fan leaves around in the method i said befor, if some branches wont stay where you would like them use some rope to pull them into the right place then tape or tack the rope to something to make it stay put.

Use paper clips/twist ties to re-arrange leaves.

    Don't cut them off.

I train from seedlings, and it works great. Do not cut leaves off marijuana plants.

damn guys well i did cut them off, so i guess the question is if they will still grow just as good or not...to me they look great and fresh looking than they were before, before the fan leaves were dark shiney, and a little wilted, and the rest of the plant was fine. it was all just an experiment to see if things will work out

Keep us updated on this topic thread. Experiments are key to learning, and you're also asking questions--another great way to learn. We are all growers, but that also means we are still learning ourselves. Even the veteran growers have things to learn. Your plants will grow, provided you give them the light, food, and time they need. Over-pruning can kill a plant...but as I say, all things in moderation. If you trimmed a few fan leaves, but left the majority I'd guess your plants will be OK. If you removed 1/2 of your plant's leaves, I'd say you just stressed your plant unnecessarily. During flowering your plant will draw stored nutrients from the leaves and produce flowers. The plant drops leaves after it has no use for them, kind of like your body does with skin, nails and hair (only your body does not get food from those facilities). Remember that MJ plants are alive, and cutting parts off 'hurts' them.

yea all on what you guys said makes alot of sense...so cutting lost some nutrients from the fans leaves to the other leaves, damn...well i guess ill just wait and see if they do any better or worse...thanks for the advise guys
