think I\'m in trouble...need suggestions please

I have two plants that I started (first time grower)12/12 9 days ago. I vegged them for 5 1/2 weeks at 18/6 under 3 100W REVEAL bulbs. Here's the problem...I'm growing them in my closet apartment and they're still skyrocketing at 7 ft tall and counting. They're actually doing quite well, lush, big green leaves, and appears to be in the early stages of flowering (keeping fingers crossed!)...but the ceiling is another 12 inches away, and the bulb even closer, 6 or 7 inches away. At this rate, I've got another day or 2 and these guys will be hitting the ceiling. I've read enough lately from here and realize I should have clipped them, tied them...and some other things but I never did. Not sure what to do...am I screwed ? don't think I can start bending them around now, they start leaning all over the place in their 5 gallon buckets. Any suggestions from you guys would be greatly appreciated...think the clock is ticking on these guys....thanks

 

hi 'chuck....at this point, tieing them down is,IMO, your best and prolly only option.I'm not familiar with the "REVEAL" bulbs, but it sounds like you could definatelly use more light. That is probably the reason for the extensive stretch you've encountered so far, and you're only in the earliest stages of the flowering stretch.

 

show us some pictures....so we can see the setup and then we can give you some better opinions.

 

Something smells funny here. You say you got 7 foot tall trees from vegging for 5 1/2 weeks? And you got this growth from 3 100w bulbs?


BTW, you stole that handle from an OG member who recently passed away. I think thats deplorable, and very disrespectful to say the least.

 

Whats up Chuck? wish we could see a pic. Has your light always been about 5 inches from ceiling? Or do you adjust the light as the plants grow? Low light and great distance equal stretching.


I have never had this problem, but I imagine, if youve got the lateral space to do it, bending them over should help ya reach full flowering without running out of room.


Try to arrange plants around outside of grow area, then by pinching stem with a pair of needle nose pliers, right where you want to bend it, you will create a weak, but intact spot in the stem that you can bend and tie down. Now suspend them from ceiling using string and tacks, or from below using sticks or dowels, stuck into the soil at an angle and tied to stem. Hope this helps. Good luck with your grow.

I also have a 75W bulb hanging midway, 375 total watts, with lots of foil. I have been adjusting the lights almost daily for 6 wks. I believe the room has plenty of light, it's very bright in there and I get a base coat if I'm in there too long. Looks like I have no choice about the bending, plants already seem top-heavy, gonna be tricky. Ceiling's concrete, very difficult to adhere anything to it. Guess I'll see what happens...thanks

I forgot to check the hall of handles to see if it was retired. I only know the reference from some MASH fans at work, it needed to be explained to me because I'm not a mash fan. Deplorable ?..disrespectful ? ...whatta strap you are, put your word-of-the-day toilet paper away and save your useless posts, I've been a member for a week or so now so there's no way I'd steal a handle, let alone even know the handle existed, ass.

As for your plants (if they are real...), use fishing weights and string to bend em. Tie a weight on the top until it produces a slight bend. Every 2 days, add a little more weight until they start growing horizontal.
