I was wanting to gather input on a comment made by a friend. Has anyone heard of fem seeds not tasting or producing same crop as normal beans? To save time and effort I was going to order some fem beans along with some others as soon as they are listed (waiting is killing me) just to avoid taking up space and the mass slaughter assoc with "regular beans" and was told by a friend don't do it, it's not the same and that I would regret it. I know that soil vs hydro can change taste somewhat, some claim soil is smoother smoke, but what is everyone's take on ordering just ladies?
Personally I don't order femmed beans. I don't like the fact that they were created either by using a chemical or mineral to induce the plant to make male flowers or they were created by stressing a plant that has the propensity to hermie. Good breeders would be using the chemical method to cause the plant to produce some male flowers. AS far as them no producing buds that are as tasty or as potent. I don't think that is the case. I have smoked bud grown from femmed seed that was pretty good. I would say that lower potency and possibly less tasty buds might come from some of the autoflowering varieties, since the Ruderalis strain that they breed to which causes them to autoflower contains almost no THC.
I don't like the fact that it bottlenecks genetics. Also like was also said is them being prone to hermie.
Yeah. It's Monsanto Corporation tactics. Supply all of us growers with their femmed beans and each time you gotta go back and order more beans. No males to breed with will make the gene pool stagnant. How is it that we came to have so many different and wonderful strains of MJ?? It wasn't by growing femmed seeds. That's for sure. It requires males in order to keep the gene pool healthy and make sure that we will have potent and new strains for generations to come.
Fem bean rule. Plant ten get ten females. They produce the same, get you fucked the same, smell the same. Even if its a corporation ploy to control the supply. Its not, its just supply and demand. It helps everyone who grows at home in small cupboards. You have room for 4 plants, you grow 4 fem plants.
LOL about Monsanto, my job is to write HACCP plans for companies to bring them in line with S501 Food Mod Act better known as Monsanto Act. I'm waiting for MJ to be legalized so I can write plans for farms that grow. I have never bought fem beans, was just a thought to save some time until I can get a mother that I like. I myself don't see how fem seeds could change anything except increased hermies or long term trait defects. To be honest, worse chemicals are used to wipe down countertops at your local McD's. Just trying to think of ways to cut corners, which is never a good idea, but momma wants to go shopping and wants to redo one of the bathrooms. I;d rather piss a customer off than her, we have guns in the house:angel7:
Why? I can pay £30 every time i want to grow some weed. You can grow 4 plants in 1 space and have enough weed for half a year.
The problem with Fem seeds are as Ras pointed out, stagnation of the gene pool. For the hobby grower, the biggest issue is that it ain't the clone. If you smoke some weed of the real ECSD for example, and then go get an S1 of ECSD, they are not going to be the same. An S1 simply is not the parent clone. Close on many levels, possibly, but not the same. A lot of fem seed buyers are not aware of this tid-bit. Other than that, they do have a place in breeding, and I can see why people like Skuzzi buy them. I just wish I could I could knock his ass off the GHS cheerleader bandwagon!
I am not on any bandwagon I just see a place in the market for GHS. Wine tasters probably dont like asda selling 3 bottles of wine for £10. Its still wine and it still tastes the same and it still gets you pissed!
