someone that I do not really know but grows a lot more then me said he puts the drink "ensure" with one can per 1 gallon of water to make his plants grow like crazie. Has any of you readers tried this and does it work????

    thanks in advance

I haven't tried it, but IMO, for what it's worth, is this sounds like a bad idea.

Uhh I wont try that at all!!!!

I guess because it does contain minerals someone might think it's a good idea, but it's much more likely to spoil and rot in you soil than do anything that would be of benefit.

Ensure is a nutritional suplliment for ppl, not plants.

How does this guys weed smoke/taste/smell? Indoor or outdoor?

I once had a hydro store employee once tell me he used to mix half a can of Welch's Grape frozen concentrate per gallon come final flush time. Havent tried it yet. Get the picture...?

I'm sure his plants do respond. It's like giving them a shot of Cal/Mag with a dose of Phos and Potassium to boot.

    Calcium199mg

    Iron4.5mg

    Magnesium101mg

    Phosphorus199mg

    Potassium441mg

    Sodium239mg

    Zinc3.8mg

    Copper0.5mg

    Manganese1.3mg

    Selenium17.9mcg

A rather odd way of going about supplementing your garden and at a $1 per bottle it seems a bit pricey. IMHO there's better more sensible ways to improve your grow.

We have an inmate that gets a can of Ensure every 3am. It's meant for the elderly.

fungus gnats, Im sure its in the FAQ.

as for the ensure, I dont know what it is, from the sounds of it its because Im not old like some other people on here. :kidding:

I have heard of cutting the end of a pumpkin branch that has a pumpkin and keeping that end in milk and it makes the pumpkin grow like crazy, ya never know what may work but never test on more then 1 plant.

Insure is a weight gain drink, usually given to the elderly who have trouble keeping food down or little appetite. It's mostly proteins and fats, with a high amount of minerals. I'm not sure about vitamin content. But, if I remember right, it's got an insane amount of calcium and iron for a plant.

Adding compounds that the roots can't take up and that either decompose slowly or require the wrong kind of animal life to decompose is NOT recommended. Ensure may be only 2 bucks a can, but it's not worth fucking up a crop to try. If you want to try it anyway, put it on a test plant that you don't especially care about and see if I'm right.

Marty, it sounds like you are still learning so I will recommend for you to go and read through the FAQs section. You will learn alot there.

Hank and CC both of you are experienced growers and could have answered that question and still tried to be funny, instead of the way you guys responded.

Thanks for a proper response from greenjah, SirStynkalot and mt.king. :good job:

Its not a opinion its a fact. Well established members would probably not take those kind of comments with any offense considering the source.

Point being although we would like new members to read the Faq before answering a barrage of questions they would not have to ask we would not want them to take offense now would we running to some other forum and saying jesus those growkind guys are pricks and wont answer or help anybody new!

LEO...may be time for a career change, neva know
