Hey guys and gals, miss me much? I thought I'd share what's in my tent at the moment. I had shut everything down during the summer, and started the tent back up mid August. As you can see, not much has changed... I still have a love affair with Cindarella 99 and her abundant crosses. This time I'm growing the Thai99 again, along side the MachFly from Mocsa Seeds. Here the run down on the stats: Stats during Veg: Medium: Plagron Grow Mix Container Size: 1 gallon, square plastic pots Nutes and PH: GHE Flora Series (Useless's formula), PH of 6 Additives: Diamond Nectar, Super Vit, Root Stimulator Grow Room: Dark Room, 120 X 60 X 160 cm Lighting : Week 1 - 5, Philips Starlight 220w, 4 X 55W Flourescent (865) Week 6.., Philips 400W HPS Magnetic Ballast, 400W SON-T Plus August 8th, 2011: Germination 11 Thai99 (C99 X Thaifun Horizon), from Nectar Seeds. 9 of 11 popped 10 MachFly (Warlock X C99), from Mosca Seeds. 5 of 10 popped, shitty... September 12th, 2011: Week 4, preflowers have revealed who stays. Besides the males, I removed one MachFly runt, which couldn't keep up. Males, 2 Thai99 and 1 Mach Fly September 25th, 2011: Repotted all plants into 3 gallon shoes. Removed one more MachFly, which couldn't keep up with the rest....no space for straglers. Stragler MachFly, there was no space for her, so she had to go. September 28th, 2011: Hooked up the 400W HPS, to give em a little extra light...which they needed badly. Stats for forthcoming Flowering: Medium: Plagron Grow Mix Container Size: 3 gallon Root Pouches, 3 gallon square plastic pots Nutes and PH: GHE Flora Series (Useless's formula), PH of 6 Additives: Super Vit, Ripen Grow Room: Dark Room, 120 X 120 X 200 cm Lighting: Lumatek 600W HPS Digital Ballast, bulb not yet purchased Flowering starts on October 6th...my birthday!!
looks legit in there. clean set up man, i like the way you get down. how does the C99 smoke? never tried any, but i always hear good things, but always heard there was not much flavor? is this true??
sweet looking set up. How hot does the hood get? I'd be concerned about that nylon strap that's laying across the top of the hood in your HPS pic. cheers
Update: Its too crowded, there's not enough room for the girls. Now the temps are too high (90° F), the humidity too low. But non the less, they are loving the HPS and growing fast. All plants, except for two Thai99s, are showing alternading node growth on the main cola. They need to be moved to the big tent asap, but the big tent won't be available until this weekend :BangHead: Hey guys, thanks for stoppin by to check it out. TeachMe, I've never smoked the original C99, only a copy of (supposedly) Bro. Grimm's stock from Nectar Seeds, that I grew out. It smelled of rotten fruits, but to be honest, I don't remember the taste all that much. I do remember that it wasn't anything stand out, in terms of taste. What made me fall in love with the strain, was its potency and energetic high, as well as the fact that it only needed 7 to 8 weeks to finish. A real keeper, which I would recommend everybody to grow at some point. Ducrider, I'm sure the hood gets to be well over 100° F, but I'm not at all worried about nylon spontaniously combusting on me. Thanks for lookin out anyways, I'll tuck the straps aways, for good measure
Update, Oktober 3rd, 2011: I pulled the strongest plants outa the tent for a bit of trimming. I took 2 clones of each of my top five Thai99 girls, as well as 2 clones from my favorite MachFly. I have had unreliable results from cloning with jiffys and rock wool, so I made a makeshift bubble cloner. I used what I had laying around, so its pretty ghetto, but it will probably work just fine. I used a hot glue gun to rig the air stone to the bottom. I only have one long air stone, so I rigged it on one side, and used only 2 rows of the tray for clones. The other two rows will be used to pop the BC seeds :thumbs-up: A shop light with a cfl, one greenhouse, two sticks, an empty rapid rooter tray, some coco, and a bit of water = makeshift ghetto cloner Here are the girls, Thai99- 1 through 5 - - And the stronger girl, of the 2 remaining MachFlys
Looking good ! I like the ghetto cloner setup. That is making do with what you have. BBT:anibong::anibong::anibong:
I'm ready for a good show Link and it looks like things are off to a great start with a good dose of ingenuity ... love the DIY cloner :thumbs-up:opcorn-2: asssit:
I'm impressed at how healthy they all look :thumbs-up: It's always best to be 'safe than sorry', but the hood won't get anywhere near hot enough to melt/combust those straps. The worst that I can see is that the glue holding the velcro on will be compromised. I'd fix them just because the way they are now looks sloppy.
Update: Switched em to 12/12 on Oktober 4th. Still in the small box, the girls will be moving into the big tent a week late, nothing I can do about that. Most are showing some Mg deficiency, so I'll water them with 2 ml/L Magnesium tonight. One MachFly got burned a bit, they seem to like their lemonade a little weaker than the Thai99. hey dudes, thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment. Its been a while since I've posted a grow, so its nice to see a few familiar faces peepin on my ladies, and giving encouraging words. Mr Astro, I'm also suprised at how healthy they all look, that's usually not the case with my grows. Usually I'm a slacker, but this round I've been very attentive, spraying them with neem every other week (there is a history of mites), making sure to really keep up precise PH values and Useless's feeding shedule. I give em half strength of the forumla, and they have been loving it, even if its almost a little too much for em. Then they need a little extra Mg every once in a while, and that's about it. I'm very intent on making this round count, so lets hope they keep going strong.
Update: The girls are stretching quiet a bit. The big tent and all the equipment are up. The 600w HPS will be installed on Monday.
With the history of mites I would definately get that bottom third trimmed out before it jungles up too bad.looks freakin sweet man
thanks for looking out dude, I've never grown big plants, so I'm happy for any advice :thumbs-up: I trimmed a bunch today. Once they're done stretching I'll see if a second trimming is necessary. Update: The 600W HPS is up and running. They are stretching like crazy, which is making the stronger phenos really stand out in terms of branch strength, structure, and internode spacing. Two phenos still showed slight Mg deficiencies, and were fed again with 1ml/L of Magnesium. I flushed the burned MachFly with neutral water, and a bit of half strength lemonade after the flush. All other plants got full strength lemonade, still using Useless's formula for the vegetative period.
Update: We're at 10 days 12/12, most plants have started to flower, marking this week as week 1 of bloom. All plants were trimmed again today. After the trim I was bored, so I rigged up a SCROG net, using some gardening wire. One clone showed roots already, the rest didn't, so I decided to make a change. I ditched the make shift bubble cloner, and moved the clones to jiffys. The bubble cloner had seemed like a good idea, but the air stone didn't cover all plants evenly. I can't risk losing the Thai99 line of genetics, so I decided to play it safe and stuck the clones into some jiffy pellets. Got a few shots in, right before the lights went on. This is before I put up the net. - After rigging up the SCROG net - My favorite MachFly pheno, already forming promising bud sights early on - My favorite Thai99 pheno, she's a freakin monster! The clones in their new home
Update: Day 20 of 12/12. They are kicking into full flowering mode early, especially the MachFly (in the middle).
