Is it normal for some shade leaves to just turn yellow? I pick alot of dead/dying leaves off every day. But everything looks very healthy at the top. I noticed when I flushed the res the other day that it really stunk! I mean bad. Is it just the bloom formula? I flush often and always use distilled water. Overall like two weeks into flowering they look awesome. I got like 20-25 nodes. Also I have alot of bottom growth, small leaves and outward stems, I heard your supposed to remove these? Thanks

Is it a rotting smell? Sounds like a rotting smell.....especially if your leaves and yellowing and falling so soon. (later in flower that normal, 2 week in is not normal) How do your roots look? My spidey weed sense is telling me you have root rot. Hope i'm wrong.

Yes people remove lesser branches to allow the main ones to get all the energy...but don't touch them until you can tell me your roots and nice and white and not rotting away (no point in stressing the plant further if it's got root rot (pyhthium).....if they are, come back and describe the situation, lower your temps (upping your oxygen)....use H2O2 if you are growing non-organic. So go have a look and come back and tell us.....

There's not a great answer without pics, but I'll try.

If you're using weak light or if the plants are packed tight together, then that's possibly just what happens.

In all likelihood though... no. It's not supposed to happen that early. Some of the low growth dies off in tightly packed setups, but if there's pretty much any light getting to the lower leaves at all, they shouldn't be shedding leaves. Even when they're tightly packed, the leaves die off but it's usually not very many and it's a gradual process - what's happening is the plant's slowly cannibalizing the less productive leaves for the nutrients and focusing energy to the leaves closest to the light source, as I understand it.

Pictures would help a LOT if you want a better answer than that.

How to get rid of root rot? Doesn't look like their rotted.

    hmm.

I'm going to hope that the smell is nothing real...I say you have not supplemented them with enough nutrients for the stressful and energy-using switch to flower. It's normal to give them one last shot of N with their bloom feed around week 3 or 4 to get them to the end of their life Make sure you feed them and DO NOT remove any lower leaves...those will be use dlater in the plants life during the flush or if you fuck up anymore they will act as your buffer and could be the first casualties which would be beneficial because that is a warning and they are not important.

Lower your water temp. add hydrogen peroxide. make your water move more. Hygrozyme is also good...someone else will have to say if you would also use the hydrogen peroxide with the hygrozyme or one or the other. That or cut your losses. :( Root rot is the worst. I have never really been able to bring a plant back once it starts showing signs above water.

Well its never been above water? Will it eventually just ruin the plants? How much peroxide should I apply to it? It's only a 1 1/4 gallon res. The bloom mixture I was using sorta dyed the roots a bit. (pinkish) My first attempt =/ I really didn't think they'd come this far, but the tops and the flowers look extremly healthy.

It's hard to be positive about how far it is from just pics.....i'd really need to smell/feel it. From here, it looks like root rot (early stages). And you say it smells funky bad...are the roots slimy at all?

The roots are the most important part of the plant. You can cut off every fan leaf and the plant will come back. But when the roots go, the plant goes. You can try to reverse the process with upping your oxygen in several way. Lower water temp, more water movement and hygrozyme and/or hydrogen peroxide. Time will tell if they will bounce back and be fine. Leave all foliage on the plant, all of it as it will need it. Stress them as little as possible, don't jumble those roots around (though you will need to clean the res well if you want them to have a shot).

I don't remember the exact amount of Hydrogen peroxide as I havn't grown anything but Hempy in a long time and those never get rot....but I always managed to with DWC, hence the switch. You will need to look that up. I seem to remeber 1 tsp per gallon of 3% h2O2 but could he wrong. It does dissapate into nothingness (it's just single oxygen molecules and will either bind to others to raise oxygen or bind to the rot and eat it)....anyways, so it does dissapate meaning you can keeping adding it without poisoning your plants or anything. But don't quote me on 1 tsp per gallon, that's just what I seem to remember.

(and yes, if it is rot and it goes unchecked the roots will die completely and the plant will follow immediately. Perhaps, if these are known females, I might take a few clones if it's real special stuff (genetics), if not and you think you can save them then save them the stress and leave the cuttings)

Thank you very much. I too believe it is early stages of root rot. =/ I will flush them constantly now and i'll look up about the peroxide. It's not real special erb, my little ones are the good ones, just trying to learn from this so I don't F those ones up.

From getting root-rot like ALL THE TIME in the past....your best bet for not getting it again (in my experience at least) is getting a water chiller and never pulling on roots to ever make them break, have a bitch fit, and release a bunch of cry-baby ethelyne (stress hormone) when they get all pissy. The top of the weed plants love to be manhandled, top em, pinch em, pull em...the roots, they are the tiny kitten who if messed with the wrong way will scratch your fucking eyes out.

    I am so high

Or you could just switch to hempy cuz it's just as fast and doesn't get rot, at least never I have seen.

i think you need a bigger rez, is that a 2 gallon tote those plants must suck it dry like everyday, and get it light proof, i see some greening of the roots

Yup moved to an 18 gallon res. Have a small root rot problem now. I think I got it getting cured. Been putting in a table spoon of peroxide every few days. How much peroxide do I put in per gallon of water? Should I still use bloom and micro nutes while I use peroxide?
