I may still leave a few outside fan leaves in place because thay do not cover up any buds from the light. Here are pictures of the two LemonBerry clones. The one I just dfoliated has already perked up. I'll answer all questions on this one as clearly as possible.
Ya, I have a question. How come I can't grow like that? I have some clones that I just fed week 2 nutes. I am going to follow closely along and may try it myself. But seriously, how come I can't grow like that??????????????? Peace....
it's all of the roots The process of letting the roots get bigger before you start flowering. That's the key to having a larger yield
Your 100% correct, and I could'nt agree more. More roots mean more bud. I do normally veg for three weeks and when I empty my pots after harvest there is almost nothing but roots.
Here are both the Lemonberry Clones. The one on the left was defoliated last week and the one on the right was not. You can see where the defoliated plant has taken off faster than the other plant. Everytime I remove the fan leaves the plant goes nuts and grows like crazy. I will comtinue to remove any new fan leaves that grow at the top of the plant as it stretches over the next two weeks or so. I'll try and answer all questions as best as possible.
How did I not see this? Nice thread. I'm getting interested. The difference is already noticable. There is no questioning of your skills, that's for sure.
opcorn-2: I love when someone takes the pepsi challenge, nothing beats an experiment...cause science is interesting Do you have any fears about the plant pooping out half way through flower? Whats you basic line of thought that brought you to do the test? Do you think it will increase yield and if so why/why not? Love testing threads though!!!
Totally missed that and read the entire thread, I hate being sober!! How can that increase yields? I have heard this mentioned before, but you would think that the plant would be able to store enough nutes and would nitro out early and have a bunch of deficiencies. I do love this though, this is way more informative than budporn...not like there's anything wrong with that either
now I just think people are messing with me:icon_confused: MrG, what do you think is going to be the end result? More/Less and why/how
Well seeing all of MrG's grows are stunning, and this is his normal practice of growing. I think the results will be the spectacular norm we are used to from him. It will be interesting to see how the nondefoliated plant compares to his normal results. I agree that these side by sides rule... Im just following MrGs advice seeing what he produces far exceeds any of my measly results. Imust say in my own grow ive plucked fans twice now and these damn plants just respond with explosive new growth. Cant wait to see the 2 test plants finished
What I think happens, is that when the majority of fan leaves are cut, there's more nutrients left for the buds to absorb, and the buds have their 'bud leaves' too to absorb light.. and/or it tricks the plant, somehow, into compensating for the lost material, and since she's now producing the flowering hormones.. well.. I'm no scientist per se, but I think it's something like that Although it does still leave the question of how does the plants 'respiration' system work without the leaves to expel excess carbon and plant waste etc..etc... This method is begging for a scientifical analysis:thumbsup:
I'm a little curious. I'd usually go with Mr. Cervantes, but we'll see how this works. I do know that pulling leaves is a common practice for vscrogs, but that's for an entirely different reason.
