My goal though is to harvest a qp-hp per cycle as quietly, efficiently, sterile, and smell free as possible

Figure $500-600 for per light going in...thats bulb, ballast, hood, and depending where you shop a fan also. I personally buy good bulbs, others say it doesn't matter, but stay away from chinese crap or knock off brands. At least with the major companies you know there's some sort of quality control.

Have you checked your available amps yet? Are you running dedicated lines from the box? You should probably check on things like that if you wanna do it right from the beginning. Don't go burning your house down or people will start calling you Chaz around here.

Look at your panel to help determine exactly what size equipment you CAN buy. And figure if you are running one room, two rooms, things like that or the tent route.

And please don't just waste money buying the latest, greatest, top of the line BS that the hydrostore will try to sell you. It's easier than you think, you don't need to buy worthless products that are probably just going to make your grow harder on you....never listen to the salesmen

hydro aint hard, sounds like a bunch of crazy shit, but not hard. put your money in building a proper enviroment to grow in, electrical sub pannel with a little more power/watts feeding it than you will use, G.F.C.I"s, fire suppresion, cliamte control ...stuff like that,

You said you had a basement you will be using.

Where do you plain on venting your exhaust to. I vent into the sewer system.

    No filters, and no smell.

The other option is Canister filters to stop the smell.

    Food for thought.

Well, you should easily be able to do a half pound per 2 months in a 2 room cycle for less than $1500. Just run what you intend to buy past the more experienced folks here first.

One of the most common mistakes people make when they start (as in EVERYONE does it) is to spend too much money on stuff you end up not using or growing out of. I've spent hundreds of dollars on extra crap *facepalm* as has everyone else on here, and it's not like there's an easy way to sell your unneeded equipment back to a store. I haven't grown for 2 years and I STILL have a $400 grow tent sitting in my closet... and the rest of the stuff I ended up just having to give away or sell for 1/4 of the purchase price.

If you're intent on growing a half pound per cycle and using 1k watt lights, you should only need one light (and that's overkill to be honest). The rule of thumb is that for most strains if you can't get 1/2 gram of finished product per watt of lighting, you should probably quit growing (after you get some experience, anyway). You might also consider setting up a small veg room to get your harvests closer together. All you'd need for lighting there would be a 4 bulb t5 setup or a 400w MH.

As far as other gear goes, panda film for the walls, 2-3 timers, 2-3 surge protectors, an inline fan and carbon filter, an oscillating floor fan, a PH pen, PH up/down, some assorted odds and ends like dryer ducting and zip strips and some cheap baseline nutrients like GH floranova will make you good to go. Seriously - this can be done efficiently on a very limited budget if you don't go crazy. Just gotta know what to buy and where to buy it.

Thanks again for the advice everyone. Is there any brands or products that I should specifically avoid.

As far as space goes I can do whatever I want for length and width but my ceiling is only 7.5 ft. I have two dedicated 20amp lines for the space already installed. The venting into the sewer line sounds like a good idea. As far as cycles go I was hoping to go with a perpetual set up.

    With a 5k set up.....oh my...this should be a great room.

In all honesty how much do you need for you and friends?

    7.5 is plenty high

Are you leaning one way or another as far as a medium (soil, hempy, tables)?

One quick bit of advice. Ive been growing for years and I my friends would never believe that I grow. I do share from time to time but none of them know I grow.

Security is your first priority above all else, unless you live where you can grow legally. So don't even tell your best friends you grow and you will never have to worry..:redbong:
