How long is too long when it comes to storing your harvest in mason jars? I've got few jars of bud that have been sitting in a dark cool place for close to 6 months now and so far they're looking very nice, both the taste and aroma are superb as is the high. I would think as along as the buds don't become too dry it should keep for at least a year maybe longer but so far 6 months is about as long as I've been able to keep a jar before it goes up in smoke. :bong-2: Cheers Duc
Ha, wife is buying Blue Glass jars (supposed to last longer in the blue glass) at the store to test this theory. Funny you have a thread on this now. I've read some that cure for literally years....I believe it was DJ short but don't quote me on that.
Yeah I found lot's of shit on the google about this but I'd like to hear what the good folks at GK are doing. Some dipshit posted a youtube video suggesting to paint the INSIDE of the jars black, seriously who the fuck would do that?? Blue glass??? What differences would the color of the glass make unless you're not storing them in the dark?
I got some black glass jars but I think your weed went bad you better send it to me to test or I could just ride down & get it -Bud
It wouldn't be that far of a ride Bud but your jar looks mighty full not to mention tasty as fuck!:thumbs-up:
I've heard 6 months is about the shelf life of active THC. Don't quote me on that. I never let it cure longer than a month to be honest.
Yeah I've neer been able to keep it around that long either. I would be surprised if you couldn't get two years in a sealed jar in the dark.
lmao, my wife asked me to get some of those blue ones so we can fill them and give them out as xmas gifts.
I just gave someone a jar of weed that was from my second grow I ever did in the beginning of 2011. Stuff was nasty, it tasted like what a cigarette tastes like when it gets real stale. When I asked dude what he thought, he said it was shwag. That was kind of ironic since the weed was from his clones, but it tasted fucking nasty, I took one hit and could not smoke anymore. I've got some blue chocolate from last october, that stuff is real good and has held up well in the jars.
I think the initial cure is very important when it comes to long term storage. That's one area of growing where people really should take more time with, especially if long term storage is a concern.
