btw, if you are just trying to keep some personal headstash you can grow and flower with t5's. it will be fluffier and not nearly as much weight, but depending on your smoking habits it may get you through until next harvest. looking at about 100-120ish
Never thought of that. They do make veg and flower t5's. I got the veg for the fixtures I have. Damn those things are bright compared to the t8's. Be Cool, CG
t5 will put out some bud, just not marketable high times buds....but for headstash on the cheap i would go that route. you can just switch bulbs at flower time, very low heat and very bright in a small area like that, they just lack penetration so you gotta scrog and trim out the under
What Nip said. asssit: Well trained low growing plants under High Output T5's. From what I've seen on GK lately, LED's will kick the T5's ass in a cab set-up...but there's still a budget consideration too. You'll still get a decent head stash using HO T5's though. http://www.plantlightinghydroponics.com/hydrofarm-envirogro-t5-2ft-4-tube-fixture-w-6400k-bulbs-p-4502.html You're going to need to think about odor control though. Even a few small plants are going to reek once they flower. It doesn't take a ton of $$ to grow a personal stash, but a little can make a huge difference if you use it right.
I like the setup. ...and I'm going to contradict what everyone else said... :roffl: Foil for that box is fine. The CFLs don't put out enough heat for the foil to be a problem. As to the lights, I think they will be fine for a box that size, a 400W would be overkill in a space that small (2' x 2'). As to the spectrum of the lights, if you stay with CFLs, Throw in some Warm White. Those will add the reds you need. CG is right about not using the big ones yet. Save those for a week or two, when the plants are bigger (and ready to flower) and move the array closer to the plants. I would say just keep going with what you have and replace some of the smaller lights with Warm White when you are ready to flower.
Your on the right track man. if your gonna stay in a small box, they do make small hid's like 100-150w. If you can afford a cooltube to put the bulb in that would be the shit. Is your box in the ac? And are both fans for exhaust? If so you might think about having 1 pulling fresh cool air in.
I'd bow to AB's thoughts. He's proven you can done more with less than anybody else on the board. assit:
I would like to point out one thing that seems to be missing, unless I missed it some where. There needs to be some kind of fan in the box to stimulate the plant during it's growth. Is there one for the plant? opcorn-2:
I'm thinking those black squares on the back wall might be fans Mr. G. Not sure, but I was thinking the same thing. Looks like 1 blowing in and 2 at the top going out. Be Cool, CG
Yup, 4" computer fans. It's very cheap and easy to put a 70w hps inside a bake-a-roll tube and hook it up to one of those fans. Micro cab cooltube ftw - probably cost you less than $100 for a LOT more light than the CFLs are putting out. The next size up is a 150w hps which would probably be a better light for the space but you'll be required to use some sort of air cooled reflector or it will bake your box. Also, keep headroom in mind. PC case growers use 70w hps lights in homemade cooltubes usually and the plants can touch the glass without burning. 150s need a few more inches than that. Might be able to hook em up and get the temps right but it looks like your cab may be too short to use them without burning your girls late flower anyway.
My bad just found it. Lol nube! Lmao Here is this weeks update !flowers doing great!:bravo:And yes 2 fans on the top and two on bottom. Just added the second one this wknd. And going to get another one that moves. Hey what you guys think of a 150w hps light in there and it fits! :coool: /monthly_2014_05/image.jpg.76785eff667cc421da7650869dd2be58.jpg
Just read the last post lol you mentioned the hps and have been looking at it and got the measurements . I can drop my shelf about 10 inches more. No problems just have to dismantle my box really quick. Might just do it!
yep, flat white paint or some panda film is great also, I use mylar but the panda film is better. You run the risk of burning your plants using tinfoil, you would want to use the dull side if you must use it, but you'll get more out of the flat white paint or the panda film or mylar if you can get it flat with no wrinkles in it.

Good. Yeah a 150 hps is good for about a 2x2 footprint box if it's being used horizontally or 3x3 if it's vertical.
I still use the 2 150mh that were the lights I started with. I use them on the younger plants/clones in my veg room.
Um, if you are comparing your 5/14/14 pic to your 5/19/14 pic, there is VERY VERY VERY LITTLE difference in growth. :roffl:
:eusa_eh:Methinks they are the same pic. And I still can't figure out why it's flowering so heavy. They look more like clones from a flowering plant than seedlings.
I must admit I went back and looked at the pics and they looks exactly the same ! Lol but I have new growth underneath, white hairs every where! When I get home later I'll take a pic. Wasn't trying to fool anyone. No nor clones! StrIght from bag seed! Just ordered my seeds online to0!
