Anybody ever hear of this? Looks like for an extra hundred beans or so I can get a double ended HID, which means I won't have to change bulbs as often and I get a better spread of light? But then I gotta spring for a new hood...
Never heard of it. What is the reason for it, more watts? A few of those in a warehouse would seem like your outdoors.:coool: peace G_B
are you talking plasma? thats my biggest issue right now, I may go plasma but not sure if double ended phillps (gavita) or red rocket with their tiny as bubls is the way to go edit...opps gavita, not gravita
This is what I'm talking about https://store.organicagardensupply.com/products/grow-lights/double-ended-hid
Is that what they are? So what's the dilio? Is is worth the money? Seems like just an HID with a longer bulb life, higher up front cost.
I don't know about the rocket plasma, it's american company that almost every hydro carries now, I will say they are suppose to be releasing a bigger version of the one already on the market. That being said, gavita has been on the market a long time. You talk to the dutch and it's the way to go, they are strictly horticulture and have been in use in greenhouses over there for years. I'm not sure if you've ever spoken to wazzup, but he strongly recommends them, BUT I do think you still need the HPS to get the weight. My biggest issue is trying the rocket on it's own like it suppose to be ran and risking things, or going with a known and using gavita in between two 600s because I think using 1ks would do the job properly. But hopefully I will be doing one of these grows in January or Feb for GK. I'm just not sure which way I want to go.....maybe if I can figure out a 8 foot rail with gavita sandwiched between 2 1ks rolling over 3 or so tables...I don't know, open for ideas. But stationary, I think gavtia between 600s is the way to go until I see rocket in action. I did see a display and it was kicking a 600s ass...but couldn't even tell you what type of plant it was
From what I understand it's a different version of HID lighting. Plasma is going to run over $1000 to start with a decent set. The claim Gavita makes is that it gives a much higher output than the typical 1k watt HPS lamps we use in the US. Of course the Gavita uses another 20% electricity to do it and they claim to produce 15% more usable light. So a Gavita 1K runs using 1220w +/- to give 15% more light than an average 1K HPS lamp. Best for high ceiling applications where they rule. For us mere mortals we're better off using two 600w HPS's for equivalent power consumption and slightly more usable light since our applications put the lamp closer to the plant than larger indoor greenhouses. Two decent 600w electronic switchable ballasts should run $400-$500 total delivered to your door, or, off the shelf at the Hydro shop so it's cheaper too.
The thing with plasma and I just dont know how true it is that the glass and light itself emits more uvb light along with the standard. But I have a feeling this differs greatly from one brand to the next and im not totally informed on them. I hope to be soon but someone's gotta try it. Res whats your thought on the design of rocket vs gavita? Both plasma but which tech is better
Don't really have one. My knowledge on plasma lighting is pretty much isolated to the Gavita line since they're the market leaders for horticulture uses. If I'm gonna shell over a grand for a lamp it's going to the guys who've been building them the longest. And yeah, plasma emitters produce a generous amount of UVB and UVA.
I dunno but my local shop owner is pushing them big time. Also wants three hundo for a nanolux 1000 w :eusa_naughty:
It's not plasma....in case you guys missed that. It's simply a stronger HPS lamp system. Gavita seems to making a push to enter the US market with a force. Makes sense with States legalizing and shit. My guess is the shops are getting a decent deal from Gavita to try and get their gear out. Res rules of Growing #647. If the hydro shop is pushing it, you probably don't need it.
Might take a look at this. Good info. http://growershouse.com/images/DE_TEST_INFOGRAPHIC.pdf
from that data on the pdf file, looks like the sunsysten AC/DE with the phillips master greeenpower plus double ended bulb outshines even the 1000W Hortilux. And broader spectrum, similar pattern. Didn't address bulb longevity but.... great data skunky. thanks for the info.:not-worthy:
