It's cold as a motherfucker here!!:5eek::wtf?: I'm sure many of you are seeing even worse than me!. Gotten about 10 inches of snow today and the temps are going to drop in the lower single digits tonight. Next couple days with single digit highs and lows predicted at -8. That's freaky cold here and the old house I grow in is poorly insulated.

Just wish Bitching would help, but it won't. So we'll just have to deal with it. Hoping everyone makes it thru safely and it doesn't hit our ladies too hard!!

I'm sure JCIO and you Texans are fairing ok, but I'm sure Greenjah is getting hit pretty hard.

If I just wouldn't wait around until the last minute to prepare for it.:bduh:

Those HIDs really come in handy in this weather. As long as they're on it stays tolerable but I did turn up the heat in the LED room!!

Good thing we have a Subaru with all wheel drive so I can get out in the morning to check on things!!

last two years where i live we have not even had a freeze. Guess thats good for fruit growers. I miss the snow. couple years ago i went to work for a buddy in NY they had a blizzard and none of his tech's would go out and work. I made $600 a day cash. I was sliding thru people yards and stuff driving his work van. I had not drove in snow in 25 years. It was great, I had a blast.

I've spent the better part of a week astride my lawn mower equipped with a plow. The seat is shaped like a funnel and directs ice and snow into my ass.

Here is my global warming theory: as the planet gets hotter and the the polar ice caps melt, the salinity of the earths oceans (as well as sea levels) will change. This change in salinity will alter major ocean currents like the Gulf Stream. I predict the Gulf Stream will eventually stop flowing so far north, and the temperate climates that the Gulf Stream creates (East Coast of North America, Iceland, Ireland, England, etc.) will get colder.

I know that the Jet stream is changing, tending to pull colder air from Canada down into the US more often. Soon we will all have ice balls like RR.

We had some good snow this year but the ground and roads are already

clear here and temps have been aoutove normal. First time in 10 years that

I have had my 2 wheel drive Tacoma back out and running around this early

Hell, it is usually About 20 and have a hard snowpack of a foot or so.

not that I am complaining, you folks back east are getting your asses kicked. I only had to plow 4 times this year.

    good luck to you guys.

Makes me feel kinda of guilty for owning a 4x4..was 75° here yesterday. Today of all days it's 42 and raining. I'd like to hike to the city and do the Mardi Gras thing but, think I'll just enjoy the free day off and stay home..

If you're a Polar Bear hanging out at the artic circle. Guess it depends on what you're used to.

Like all these Alaska shows on TV now where the guys have ice hanging from their mustache past their chin going on about all the work to be done before it really gets cold.

Well it's stopped snowing and I need to go and shovel the damn driveway and side walks.

I've read of that therory , I don't think it would effect us much as europe As far as cold snaps , but I don't understand how the mixing of fresh water from the northern ices going to stop the flow , even if salt water is denser , The majority of ice is store in the south poles anyway ,natural Cycles of earth In any case. 12k years ago the northeast US was under a glacier and the saharra desert was a tropical rain forest. That's not really a very long time span either . We have recorded weather patterns for under 200 years , we know nothing. To think the sky is falling and it's all man made is almost arrogant. My 2cents.

Time for this Carlin classic. Sums up my opinion exactly. Where I live was at the bottom of a 170,000 sq/mi glacial lake 10,000 years ago. 65 million years ago an asteroid 6 miles in diameter hit the Yucatan Peninsula, caused a global firestorm, then a cold snap, and finally a global warming. Believed by many to have caused the extinction of the dinosaurs. Warm blooded creatures take over, voile' homidae. Dinosaur, history. Wonder what will be here next? Change is the only constant.

Not exactly true that we know nothing. We know excess carbon in the atmosphere makes the planet hotter. We also know we are putting a shit ton of carbon into the atmosphere as fast as we can. Sure there is other-than-man-made climate change, but we are having an impact too. And I'm no chicken little. I mean, who is to say global warming is bad? Those dudes still stuck in the desert are probably hoping a little climate change will bring them some rain.

I don't know about the ocean currents changing. That's just my pessimistic guess, based on what I don't want to happen. I'm damn cold enough already.

And I hear some sad forecasts too...supposed to remain like this all week and into next week. I tell you what man I can't even function without a hot shower and coffee in the AM. This old house I'm in doesn't stay too warm even with the furnace going all day. The wind just sucks the heat right out and I'm freezing cold in my own house.

FF- to paraphrase Minnie Aumonier, "..there's always the garden." Nice balmy 75F in there. All that carbon burning electric juice pumping through those lights might just give you some unexpected beachfront some day.

It figures i just said we havent had a freeze in three years and tonight its going to be 30 deg where i live. Then it will be in the 70's in a couple days. My balls are going to fall off, I seriously dont own a pair of pants past my nee's. (That fit anyways)

I dont know how you all deal with it for months at a time. I am considering putting my 600 hps up and laying under it naked to warm up the twins.

    It is fucking cold!

52 up here in the Pacific Northwest. I am enjoying it cause usually it is

20 degrees and plenty of snow this time of year. I have been in that below zero crap and it is NOT fun.

Yeah it gets down into the single digits at night and lately that wind has been howling. Snow blowing everywhere. The wind chill knocks off another 20 degrees. Then at 1 AM last night I get the call...furnace not working. Now today the tech says, basically, your furnace is shot. You'll be lucky if it runs another three weeks.

Do they make wood pellet furnaces? :read2::read2:
