In another recent thread, and others in the past, there are many of us who have expressed a dislike for having to spend hours trimming buds. And then there are those who don't mind at all, may even be relaxing for some. But, this evening I had 4 plants ready to come out of flower, 3 OG + 1 AK, and decided to go ahead and get them trimmed up and get it over with. I do all the bigger buds by hand and am sitting there snipping away thinking about the latest discussion about jobs in the cannabis industry, namely Bud Trimmer. So I'm trimming away thinking 'this isn't so bad', a little something for the pain in my hands and I could do this on a regular basis, no problem. This is not a bad job, so why does it bother me so much. Then my mind came back to reality and I remembered the clones that needed potted, the vegging plants that needed trimmed, topped or repotted. How the plants in the LED room need one more feeding before I start to flush and how the propane tank on the CO2 generator was all but empty. The 3 lbs of trim in the freezer waiting to be turned into hash. The ebb + flow tables waiting to be cleaned and set up for spring. So the reason I detest trimming is - I've got toooo much other 'shit' to do to spend hours on end at it. Because if the other 'shit' doesn't get done, there won't be any buds to trim!! Amen brother, but if you don't trim then you miss out on the awesome by products like dry sift, bho and bubble. I look at it like one the final steps of the WHOLE process. I hate waiting on flowers to finish the flower cycle and scrubbing tables and reservoirs more than trimming.
I guess is need to be a little more specific, Who hates HAND trimming?? Yeah, trimming's gotta get done. I don't like drying mine with the leaf still on it 'cause you do loose a lot for the hash making process. I only make bubble hash and I've found that even though the bud trimmers are a little rough the trimmings make damn good hash. And I get more grams of hash per oz of trim so I figure it evens out. It takes too long to do a bunch of hand trimming. Thus, the bud spinner. makes my life a lot simpler and gives me time to do all the rest of the stuff involved in cultivation.
Yes amen to that, i have a T4 and still have the same problem, things get pretty neglected in the fall, I end up doing half the cleanup in the spring. I still have boxes and boxes of fan leaves, stems and garbage sitting outside weighting to thaw and dry so i can burn them.
And it's extra painful if the buds are small and the yield sucks. EXTRA It's like panning for gold and seeing nothing but copper.... Any task that requires hours and hours of focused effort, each month, gets old. The bud trimmers are your best friends. Never have "other shit to do" wives to look after, kids to watch, etc. Oh yeah AMEN
