After more than a few DWC tote grows and re using the clay pellets in my net pots, i wonder when is it time to use some new ones? I always clean after each grow, and they look like they will last forever.

Just checking what everyone else does with theirs?

Yes i am cheap:pimp:, but is there a rule of thumb to go by as far as switching out the pellets? Or just clean after grow and keep resusing. They dont seem to detearate at all.

Cleaning aint worth the hassle imho, you get old root matter in there and the next thing you know is you have slime or a shit storm to deal with.

I've got entire french drain system in my yard filled with them. Always was worried about throwing them out so I would just bucket them up and pour them into a ditch that caught heavy rains :redbong::redbong:

I have cleaned them several times no issue . I thought they cleaned up pretty easy , much easier than perlite. The majority of roots come out easy.

After I harvest, I dump the net pot into a 5gl bucket, what ever comes out I keep, whatever is being held by root goes in the trash with the roots. When I see that I'm getting low on pellets I buy more. Of coarse I wash in a MILD bleach/water solution and rinse well before I reuse them

I have never had the pleasure of using hydro ton, but I've heard you can pop me in the oven at 250f for an hour or two to kill anything growing in them...that said, I'm stoned, and I don't know what I'm talking about.

Go get a small electric concrete mixer and a gallon of bleach...cut with water, turn it on in the garage and come back tomorrow
