So ran into a problem. I germinated my seeds almost two months ago. Light cycle18/6. No notes until 10 day after sprouting the first spiked leaves. 250w mh light cool tube about 18 inches away. So the plants are only 4 inches tall not sure why. Nutes are gh. And calmag. Been on veg for 1 month and a half.
Cool temps can slow growth down. In addition to not growing, any other signs of trouble? We love pics. :thumbs-up:
View attachment 19655 No other problems. Growing in perlite with a little of cocoa mix. Only doing 25%of gh nutes. /monthly_2015_04/image.jpg.bc0b82b27bb3ede3aa6884812898abb4.jpg
Plant is prob dying because roots are dry. Dont know shit about coco but perlite can dey some shit out. How often you watering and why such huge container to start? Transplant is a good thing for plants vs doing something like that My humble opinion of couse
Yeah what Nippie said or maybe underfeeding as well as drying out? You mentioned they got cold. How cold and for how long? Even growing indoors plants can get cold and dry enough to lock em in stasis where they don't really grow or die either - just kinda perpetuate. I'd try something to change it up. Hell after 6 weeks or 8 weeks or whatever I'd be freaking out, lighting fires, pissing on them, showing them pictures of sexy plants, etc.
Cold...not cool temps will retard growth. Like under 50 degrees. Take off venting and let bulb warm area but I dont think thats the problem. Prob in my eyes in grow medium. Ive just never seen it done that way before. I amit I dont know anything about coco but that looks like a hempy to me. Container way to big for a plant of thst size. You should be lightly (keyword lightly) watering everyday to moisten the perlite so the roots have moisture to seek out. And not just at the base of the plant, around it slowly making bigger circles. As the roots grow then need moisture, you cant let them dry out which will happen in perlite if you dont know what you are doing.
If that's the case, then feed them and keep the roots above 70F. Why the switch to perlite in bags? Makes for a bitch of a time keeping anything moist and feeding. Again, assuming 2 months...My best guess...you're using a perlite heavy cocofiber mix that dries very quickly and rockwool for a seed starter medium that dries very very very slowly. The rockwool retains enough moisture for the roots to never have to work and the perlite dries so quickly any new growth dries out before strengthening. This produces not enough nutrient, or root, for the plant to flourish while giving it just enough not to die. Suggestion? Water/feed everywhere daily EXCEPT on the actual rockwool cube. Leave that part dry. Pretty much what Nip said.
Do me a favor. Dig into the perlite away from the roots and see if its moist or dry. If dry you know your problem and you just need to adjust schedule. Also I would suggest true hempy next time, may be easier for you. You can use straight perlite or a mix with vermiculite which helps keep moisture. I do straight hydroton hempys now but I know when to water before they show first signs. After thry hit ressy not so much od an issue Good luck let us know
What they said, if the roots dry out, they turn brown die and if the roots can't grow the plant don't grow. You might try top feeding with a low gpm drip emitter on a timer.
Really good advice guys. Yeah first time mixing with cocoa. Going to try some things out and see what happens. Just never had this happen to me. If I readjust thing will they still grow bigger or should I just ditch these and start over?
Can they recuperate from this or should I just start again? Really disappointed with these right now. One is white widow and other white critical. The auto in the back is nl
