When would you say is the cap for beginning an outdoor grow in Southern California? I feel like it would be late-May/early-June but I wanted to get an opinion from someone with experience. I want to start my first outdoor grow next spring but I was curious about how late I can wait. Thanks!

I'm in northern cal but I started some plants outside from small clones on june 22, july 7th and august 1/6. If it were me and I was anywhere around San Diego I'd be growing year round outside. I do it here in march/april/may with no problems. The entire thread is here.... http://forum.growkind.com/showthread.php?t=48856

Last summer's So Cal outdoor grow was one 12 week Sannie's Killing Fields. Took cuttings on May 28, harvested a 6 foot tall bush on October 23. That would make the "start" of flowering somewhere around July 23. Flowers were visible around August 23. This plant vegged indoors under a T5 until it was about 16" tall, before going outside, but I don't recall the date.

Be prepared for caterpillars, if growing outside. They've been a problem for me every time.

    Good Luck,

Awesome, thanks for the advice, guys! I'll have to read up on pest preventatives for caterpillars. Don't think I have the chops to attempt a grow through the winter, even though I'm in LA. But you guys have given me some stuff to think about - thanks!
