I was thinking of building a double decker box in the garage for flower since I am way short of space. Would be like the tents or grow cabs that are like that. Anyone here done a DIY like that and or have anything I should keep in mind when building? I have done many side by side ones where veg and flower were in same area. I top plants, three feet is about the norm so hight shouldnt be a problem. I even thought about mounting my onyx into the ceiling on the top bunk and using the indus bars for the bottom....
4ft x 6ft x 6ft high each bunk. The celing in my garage is higher than a normal garage, matches the 12 foot ceiling to the inside room next to it. Have a sep plug wired to a 30 amp breaker on the one side, then another plug wired to a 20 amp on the celing Maybe 6x8x6ft high each bunk To go bigger.
The ladder is like 2 x 4 ft and 5 ft high I got the induis in a small closet now (them suckers are hot to the touch but no heat really besides that). but that flower box is stinking up the house with this epic pine, i am so out of room, i am going to have to ditch my fugo and fools gold. But they are always avail. Between the Dab, pine and cherry ak its a frosty wonderland.
what a problem to have JCIO!! I would be worried about the weight of the plants just after watering......water is 8 LBS a gallon... BUt it could be done easily enough with the correct materials... MAX MAD
I figure if I run 2x4's every 8-10" or so, to brace the floor it should be good. I got the top still open with temp braces for the lighting now. Its got 2x4's all around the top so I could make a raised sub floor for the top box? Just thinking. I need to get on the laptop and draw a diagram of what I am talking about. I tend to stick to the main drag when I'm in Daytona... I first went to Daytona from NJ in 1990 and got lost since then I tend to stay on the main drag and A1A I did manage to hit Leesburgh..and the Ocala bikefests as well I'm waiting till we hang out to hit the cabbage patch MAD MAX
You'll be fine at 16" centers on the joists and 1/2" plywood decking. Biggest problem is water spills shredding your plywood after it's built. Might be a good idea to use a water proof floor coating on the top deck. Love this. I like multi-level stuff. I wish I could help you build it. So you would have 6' of height for each level? That is plenty... I think the LED's will do very well in a small space. I'm waiting for somebody to put a ton of LED in a tiny space and cool it like you would HPS lights.
I think it will Work. I like the lower one I alread got. Its got enough room to run 12 2 gallon plants easy. Then I could even split the top to run some veg moms. Then I can hide the exaust going to the addic easy and it would look just like a garage cabinet.
