Merry Juana and Happy New Year GK!!!! My resolution in not to freeze my damn balls off. Don't know about the rest of you but it's cold as all hell here. Down to 5 or 6 degrees tonight and maybe fuckin' O tomorrow night. My old bones and these temps don't get along well at all!! Be Cool, CG
Happy New Year to you as well. We just had Snowmagedon 2 here. Not as bad as Erie, Pa . But about 16 inches and then freezing rain on top it. Made for a lot of hard work. Still wouldn't want to live any where else. It's all good.
Happy new year! I freaking hate New Years resolutions with a passion, but I have a good one for this my first year following such nonsense humon tradition ... By this time next year I will have built my own airplane :nerd smiley: I got plans for the SkyPup
I'm looking for options...so far best bet seems between a vtwin honda which is relatively common amongst the Facebook group, or a DLE-222 seems like a no brainier to me but depends on what further research reveals. It works, on paper. At 21hp and 12 lbs a rather attractive way to not loose an extra 50#'s myself https://www.dle-engines.com/dleg0222.html
Happy New Years folks! Back in the day when I flew IMAC a 3W 212 on full length tuned pipes hulled a 42%scale Yak52 around with athority. If memory serves me it was turning a 34x12 Fuchs prop. I’ve heard good things about DLE engines but really aren’t they just chinesss knock offs of the DA-200? Of course that was just a 50 pound model. I think I’d go for the Honda if my ass was going along for the ride lol.
Never trust another persons math....so this engine won't spin the recommended prop at the specified engine rpm range. So in order for it to work it would be a reduction drive and a bigger prop...dreams squashed, the power plant would cost 6 times the rest of the airplane lol It is indeed a cheap de, I had no idea your background...you f anything these days? Re engines of any sort, if they can swing the same prop at the same rpm, it'll do the same job. Especially in an application where hot dogging simply isn't possible. As is typical with airplane folk, most are hesitant to entertain anything but the norm...in my mind if I can make a change without adversely affecting the structure/engineering, it benefits the future of the design. Especially with regard to engine choices. The Honda setups completely block forward view are heavy (lbs/hp)and are not internally built in close tolerance in my opinion. Limbach has a horizontally opposed 2 cylinder within spec that's fuel injected...that's now my favorite
