I can't seem to remember if it was best to have a bit more depth in my grow pot or circumference....

Like, wanna grow some Jack Herer or Chemdawg in FoxFarms Ocean Forest.

    Vegetate ~56 - 77 days.
    Then flower.....

Would the 5 gallon home depot bucket still be best.

I prefer a pot slightly deeper than it is wide. 5 gallon Home DePot bucket filled a little over halfway should do fine. Remember drainage holes.

Wiz- what, you take some time off?

    Hola Mr. Wizard :animbong:

I prefer the taller rather than wider pots as well but I think using a 5 gal. bucket is a bit overkill not to mention a waste of soil. Unless you're looking to grow one to two giant ass plants I'd go with a 1 gallon smart pot for the first 3-4 weeks of vegging transplanting to a 3 gal. pot for the last couple of weeks before flowering. If you're using something similar to promix with amendments you should be able to flower them out with minimal feeding. Done right you should be able to get a good 2-3 plus zips per plant. This assumes that you're running a perpetual harvest chopping every 4-6 wks.

I like the lowes 3 gal buckets with drain holes a inch or so above the bottom. The 5 gallon worked good for flowering moms.
