Good point Sativa. "This nation needs...sorry to say...to go back a few steps to continue forward" That statement sums up to a T what many of us are feeling Tibs.

Morals and Values...No man with morals and values IMHO receives blow jobs in his house by an employee while his wife and daughter may or may not be home regardless of how large that house is and how white that house is.

Morals and Values...No man with morals and values condemns and pledges to stop the influx of cocaine or the murdering behavior of guerillas and rebels while secretly supplying those guerillas and rebels with weapons and buying their cocaine

Morals and Values...SIERRA CLUB PICKS WORST BUSH ADMINISTRATION ENVIRONMENTAL EXPLOITS OF 2003

Tripling allowable levels of mercury pollution, shifting the burden of toxic clean up from polluters to taxpayers, and undoing rules for cleaning up America's dirtiest power plants topped a laundry list of Bush administration exploits to weaken decades environmental progress in 2003.

"The Bush administration is systematically turning back 30 years of environmental progress," said Carl Pope, Sierra Club executive director. "You really have to go back to the McKinley administration in the late 19th century to find so many gratuitous giveaways to special interests looking to exploit our air, water, and natural areas. Americans want a 21st century administration that can deliver forward-thinking environmental solutions."

The Sierra Club surveyed subscribers of RAW, the organization's twice-weekly electronic newsletter tracking the Bush administration's environmental record, to determine the worst-of-the-worst decisions affecting public health and the environment. Mercury pollution, toxic cleanup, and soot and smog registered as the greatest concerns, from a list that also included oil drilling on sensitive lands, a secret amnesty deal for giant factory farms, and lax environmental enforcement, among others.

The survey also found that the public is largely unaware of the broad scope of the Bush administration's assaults on the nation's air, water and lands, Pope said. Many respondents expressed surprise that they haven't heard more about the administration's environmental record from mainstream media.

"Trying to limit my vote to three big ones is beyond difficult," wrote one RAW reader in a typical response. "This administration is doing more damage than the Reagan & Bush Sr. ones did. And I didn't think that was even possible! Thank you for making the effort to educate Americans about what this administration is really doing to this country!"

The full list of 2003 Bush administration actions, ranked according to the survey response, appears below. To subscribe to RAW, visit

    1. MERCURY RISING - Issued public health warnings to pregnant women and children about mercury after announcing policy changes to triple amount of mercury pollution allowed from power plants.

    2. SUPER DUPED - Became first administration to support shifting burden of Superfund toxic waste cleanups from polluters to taxpayers.

    3. SOOTY SANTA - Dismantled provision of Clean Air Act that requires oldest, dirtiest power plants and refineries to curb soot and smog pollution.

    4. BACK IN BLACKOUT - Proposed a national Energy Bill that did nothing to reduce dependence on foreign oil, repair or address antiquated electricity grid, or protect special places from oil and gas drilling.

    5. DRILLING WILDERNESS - Opened nearly 9 million pristine acres in Northwest Alaska to the oil and gas industry for exploration and drilling.

    6. STONEWALLING, BIG TIME (tied)- Continued to withhold documents from secret meetings between Bush/Cheney Energy Task Force and energy industry lobbyists.

    6. DON'T AX, DON'T TELL (tied) - Promoted a wildfire policy that expanded commercial logging in the backcountry but did little to protect people where they live.

    7. NEXT STOP, SHINOLA - Allowed untreated sewage to be blended with treated sewage, cut funding for local sewage treatment, and didn't require health officials to warn public about sewage in water.

    8. CRITICAL CONDITION - Obliterated the process of critical habitat designation for imperiled wildlife under the Endangered Species Act.

    9. COP OFF - Continued pattern of willful negligence for enforcement of even basic clean water and clean air laws.

    10. POST 9/11 LIES - Discovered by EPA Inspector General to have lied about post 9/11 environmental health hazards near Ground Zero.

    11. ROAD WARRIOR - Expanded the legal loophole that allows obnoxious road claims through federally protected wilderness, national parks, and public lands.

    12. HOG WASH - Secretly negotiated backroom deal to exempt giant animal factories from laws governing air and toxic pollution.

    13. POLLUTED LOGIC - Refused to classify industrial carbon emissions, linked to global warming, as an official pollutant under the Clean Air Act.

    14. HOT AIR - Proposed fantasy hydrogen power initiative to improve auto fuel efficiency rather than promoting more proven technologies like gas-electric hybrids.

    15. ESTATE TOX - Ended a 25-year ban on the sale of PCB-laden real estate.

Sierra Club a well respected environmental advocate. Is this true, untrue? I dont know to be honest. Really dont know what to believe anymore. However if it is in fact true or 75% TRUE that in and of itself is enough to make me question Bushs Morals and Values.

Our children and Grandchildren will have to live upon this planet long after these men are dead and buried. Is Bush or any President for the last 50 years thinking about our Children and Grandchildren? They should be IMHO. If so then why havent arent we developing and implementing(key word)on a large scale other forms of fuel or other forms of manufacturing? Tibs, Herb you live in Gods country, you must have respect for the land I'd imagine...just a question How long can we piss and **** where we lie before it makes us ill?....

Morals and Values good question Tibs.

My first alarm goes off when they say Bush , has done more damage that reagan, and Bush 1 combined. They both ,especially Bush #1 introduced many of the enviromental laws they talked about. Sierra club is also a left wing organization, which menas they cannot be trusted to be "fair, and balanced". Some of what they are saying is probably true though just the same. It would be nice though to get a totally unbiased picture of whats going on. That is the problem this day,and age is everyone has ,an agenda, and you cannoy completely trust anything, except family. ie Family values.

I don't care what anyone say's about fox news. I think they do a good job, and there shows are well put together. Plus They have hot chicks working there. Laurie Dhue, Do me. Man the one red head, Patti Ann Brown something about them redheads.Plus a bunch more. But besides the chicks, after watching them for a while, and then watch CNN. or Msnbc you'll really notice the later two are "spinning". That is why they hate Fox.

Cigarrets still kill more people every year than all the people killed in iraq since the us invaded. And, if you look at the statistics from the american cancer society, tobacco claims the lives of more people in the us (again, each year, not total) than all the people that died from the tsunami.

I think the ceo's and board members on the tobacco companies should be put in gitmo, they are terrorists aren't they? I mean they know that they're making devices that will be used to kill people in mass numbers. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that osama's camel's name is Joe.

About marriage, I think homosexual people should get the same legal and ethical rights/treatments as heterosexual couples, but that homosexuals should have "civil unions". Because, if we allow homosexuals the right to be "married" we've broadened the definition of marriage. And once that happens, how will we be able to deny anyone/thing the right to marry? What if i want to marry three lampshades and a horse? Wouldn't it be my right to marry who and what i want? You see the slope it could slip down? Polygamists will be the next ones crying for marriage rights if gays get it.

So preserve marriage and make civil unions the equivalent to it, that way marriage is protected and homosexuals still get all the rights of marriage, and i won't be given the right to marry my lampshades and my horse.

Not to trample here Tibs...but SD hit the nail on the head...

    SD Quotes:

Now considering "values" is not even a word, again if Im reading the dictionary correctly that is... Im pressed to wonder if the phrase "family values" is in fact a phrase created by Fundementalist Christians?

Press yer'self no longer SD...for you just got the $20,000 question correct..."Family Values or Moral Values" is an Evangelical Right-Wing Fundamentalist Christian moniker...created in the last 4-5 years by those who would stand to gain influence by propping up this catch phrase with a President who supposedly lives it to the tee...puh-leeze...you want to talk about agendas, SFC...there's an agenda for ya'...whitewash(hoodwink) the American Public into a frenzy over moral issues, and while the natives are restless, pull several fast ones on them...like Iraq.

You probably all think that I have nothing better to do...well in fact, your right...I live to show my dissent for one complete failure of a President and system...the system is broke and the leaders in charge of running it are to arrogant and self-serving to rightly give a flying **** about you or me...if for one second you think that Bush is a shining example of truth and integrity...you my fine feathered friend have been duped...Big Time(Peter Gabriel)...cheers!...PC

IIIII I think we could limit marriage to humans. I doubt you would see many people fight for their right to marry a lampshade or an animal. That would be more embarrassing to a person than being homosexual I think. In some cultures at different times a son would marry his mother when his father died. Not for sexual reasons but for reasons of protection. How can marriage be defined when it has been something so different in time and in different cultures? We aren't changing the definition of marriage because there is no definition. If there is a definition set by human tradition then it is okay for a person to marry his sister since Tut did it. People should be able to do what they want as long as it does not affect anybody else. Why should anybody care if homos marry? It's not my butt getting ripped into. Homosexuality grosses me out, except for lesbians of course. I love lesbians! But as long as it doesn't affect me then to each his own.

IMO this wouldn't even be an issue to homosexuals if they were given their rights. Some companies give benefits to homosexual partnerships, but not all. I believe anybody can partner up for any reason they want. It doesn't or shouldn't have to be a sexual partnership even. If I can afford 10 wives I should be able to have them.

Upon closer examination and research...I find that I have made a mistake in saying that it was the "Religious Right"...the fanatical Evangelical Christian fundamentalist crowd that evented the phrase or coined the phrase "Moral Values"...truth is the political pollsters and pundits are the folks we can thank for bringing us this new set of moral expectations...the only task given to the Evangelical Christian fundamentalist fanatics is to uphold and carry the torch for this type of values precedent...sorry to have you Misled...so Bush of Me...PC

Actually Sparky, most polygamists have two characteristics. At least the ones I've met. I'm talking about the Men. They are sexual perverts which drives them to feed on the young women in the colony forcing the Young Women to marry at ages as young as 13. They take them to Mexico where it is legal to marry such a young girl. Second they seek out Women who will support them!!! From Women who have basic educations and can barely eek out a living. To women who are doctors, Lawyers and business owners. This is how it works. They get 7 wives and place them around an area. The Women are responsible for supporting her self, her children, and Him. He will spend 1-2 days with A wife. then move on to the next one. So it boils down to as a Man you get taken care of by 7 wives, get to **** a different wife every night if you choose. It boils down to choice really.
