Alright just noticed there is no DIY scrubber thread(atleast I didn't see it) and I am in the process of building a new one So i'll post up some pics and a little how to. It cost me $42(excluding carbon and $1 for panty hose) today at home depot for the supplies.

    List:

Hardware clothe- the 1/2" square grid chicken wire type stuff but thicker.
    1 6"-4" reducer
    1 6" duct cap (or 6" collar)
    1 4" duct cap (or 6" collar)
    1 4" collar
    2 6" worm clamps
    duct tape or aluminum tape
    twist ties
    panty hose
    cotton stuffing
    carbon

If you can't find the duct caps just use the collars and fold them down then seal them off with a piece of cardboard and tape. Thess fill serve as the bottom portion. I had to use collars because our gay HD doesn't carry anything good!

Pictures and tutorial to follow in the next few hours:smokin:

    Alright first things first.

If you can get the duct caps you can skip this step.

If you can only get the collars you are going to have to fold down all the tabs on the collars and I crushed the outter edge with pliers. traced the collars on some cardboard and after cutting them out placed them on in the inside of the collar to make a bottom. I then duct taped these on bothside of the collar as you can see in the pics.

Next, you will need to cut out the wire to the size(height) you want. I cut mine 11"x40" for the 6" outer tube to have some overlap and 12"x30" for the 4" inner tube. So everything fits nicely in the end make sure the 6" tube is 1" shorter than the inner tube. go ahead a cut Wrap these around your collars and use some twist ties to hold the wire together. I did this in multiple spots on both spots where it overlaps on each tube. The inner 4" tube will have two collars attached with the wire wrapped around, 1 for the bottom one making the top connection. Use some duct tape to cover the sharp edges from cutting the wire so it won't rip the panty hose.

Now take the panty hose and cut off each leg as high as possible. For the 4" tube, place the tube upside down with the bottom up and stretch one leg to pull it over the tube like a sock. you will be able to go all the way down and back up to double it with that one leg. Then do the same for the 6" tube but you won't be able to double it. take the remaining part of the panty hose and cut the crotch out of it. Use this as a second layer, pull it to the bottom then place your clamp around the bottom and this piece of hose and tighten it down good. Don't worry about strecthing it up the tube yet.

Now take your cotton stuffing and wrap some arouns the bottom of the 4" tube even with the collar and insert it into the 6" tube. you can use some more stuffing to fill up that gap at the bottom. I used a ruler to push more stuffing in there until it was nice and tightly packed and even with the top of the collars so all the carbon will be used and not wasted.

Get your carbon and pour it in to the point that it is flush with the upper collar on the 4" tube. pack the rest of the top portion with cotton. Now you can slide the 6-4 reducer into the top. Now you can stretch up the hose and slide the other clamp over it and tighten it down to hold everything in place.

Onlything left is to hook it up to your exhuast.

****Maybe a mod could assist me on getting this pics to show up in the thread I uploaded them to my gallery and I tried using the insert image thing but it just posts the link instead.

Only thing left is to hook it up to your exhaust.

Tony Aroma Let's Go - Two Smokes!

I used plastic window screen, two layers thick, on the outer tube instead of the pantyhose, and it works just fine. Maybe my scrubber is bigger, or my wife is smaller, but I couldn't get the hose to stretch over the outside tube they way they did over the inner one.

Yea probaby should have stated I got the biggest size they have for the panty hose, I think it was E or something like that. Window screen will work fine and soo will those polyfil sheets, they have 1" thick polyfil sheets that you could wrap around the outside and make it look more like a store bought scrubber.

Oh and the amount it cost I put the amount it cost for everything i bought at HD that day on accident.

It was a little over $20 for the supplies besides the carbon and the carbon I used I got at petsmart and is actually analytical grade and was $20 for 3 litres, stuff is very pure and absorbs very well. I'm sure you can still use the cheap crap from walmart just going to have to get a few of those small containers.

Can a scrubber be done using a 90 degree elbow ? I have limited space and the exhaust has to go out the roof through the attic fan!

Not sure exactly what you mean but I have a 90* elbow in the exhuast line if that answers your question.

On the end that you have the reducer ,that would be an elbow instead! The rest would stay the same.
