How much better is MH for vegging than hps .I have a 430 watt hps is it worth going out and getting a 400 or 600 MH just for vegging or can i get pretty much the same results for vegging with the 430 watt hps.Is there a big difference in yield or hardly any at all.

    This is the eternal debate.

You can do everything, including veg, with the lamp your already using.

    Yep ^^^^ What he said...

I have read that MH early in a seedlings life helps promote more females...

I like to start mine out under the MH bulb but this time my 13 hour grow is using just HPS and so far it's ok.

I just upgraded ( at 3 wks into flowering) from a 400w MH to a 1000w HPS. I am definately noticing denser, bigger buds, but next month I guess I will find out how the HPS does for vegging. The 400w served me well thru 4 1/2 grows, but hopefully I'll be able to get the job done in the future with the HPS. Good luck.

That 430W has 30W of 'blue' light built right into it. The purpose of the bulb is to couple benefits from both MH and HPS. I think you'll do fine vegging with it. :smoke2:
