thats a question only you can answer. depends what you are trying to do. I tried pinching some clones but it didn't seem to slow growth (if that's you aim), topping and lst are my preferred methods.
Pinching will help reduce stretch. I also like to bend back-and-forth. The more energy the plant needs to repair the 'damage', the less energy available at the distal end. Play around with it. Just don't go crazy!

I may have not done it enough, who knows, but I did try that with a clone a fw weeks ago. Long story short, quit that and lst'd instead. read FAQ and choose a style, there are many.
I pinched the top off of this before I flipped the lights to 12/12 and it ended up with several colas on it as you can see.
