I used my trim from my 2 WW and 2 BB plants, and I see green plant material, but also, golden, hash, but how do I seperate it when it dries? I used paper coffee filters, didn't have metal coffee filter, but I did get a lot of hash!! Could you heat the final product to dry faster or will it hurt it, like oven? I have a tea strainer, if that helps, this is my first time at making hash.
By blender method, you are referring to cold water extraction? anyway, paper coffee filters work well. with a cold water extract, I usually let it settle about 24 hours. I don't know what the recommended time is, but 24 hours is more than sufficient. then sifle the water off all the way down to the top of your product. I stick the bucket in the top of my grow closet since that's the warmest place in the house, it's usually pretty much dried at 24 to 48 hours, but I leave it longer just for GP I wouldn't try heating it, but certainly you could to degree with no ill effect, but it's just a few days before it's ready to package
Get as much water out of it as you can and then place it in the freezer. Check on it every now and then. The cold helps to pull the moisture out so you can blot it off. I don't add any heat until I'm ready to press it, but I've only made it a few times.
on the subject of pressing.... is this even necessary? I don't get it, filtered at 220 TPI or above it pretty much compresses when you roll it in your fingers. I've seen shit filtered at 170 that they were compressing with hydraulic jacks, but I think the trend for personal shit is 220 plus?
I need help with getting the little green plant material that passed through the strainer, it's mixed in with my hash, could I use like a silk screen seperate the green plants leaves, from the hash? When it settled, I could see a chunk of solid hash, but the rest had, hash and green material that was wet.
If you have plant material in your hash you can strain it again through a smaller strainer. I got some silk screen from a t-shirt shop and it works real well. Another thing I've found helpful is to use a hand mixer instead of a blender. The mixer is better for breaking the trichs off the plant where as the blender chops the whole mess up leaving you with more plant material if you use a strainer with a lower TPI count.
i use a blender, but i have a different paddle like blade i use. i still end up with green shit, but if you strain it several times through your first, and second filter/strainer, a lot more green shit will be removed. i think my second filter is 90 micron, an it keeps plugging, but i just rinse it repeatedly an keep straining. ill be using a more efficient method to make hash in the near future though. i jus didnt wanna spend any money on items to make hash with since i havent been able to sell any an ive been makin it for almost a year now.
the metal filter or some silk screen is instrumental in the first pour though for blender hash (mush through filter). Paper is great for pouring the water trich/mix through to seperate the trichs in the end. I don't mean tro brag, but I have a pretty well refined method for blender hash. I will try to find the write up I have on it, if not I will re-write it when time allows. Basically blend 1/3 full of bud or less(eliminates need for second run with same trim), 3/4 full of ice, rest water, pour through metal filter(finest one you can find for best quality) or silk screen into 2-liter bottles, repeat till full, let settle. Pour this trich/water mix through the paper filters, let drain well, wrap a wad of paper towels arouns the outside if paper, and squeeze. Take has out of filter wrap in paper towel, squeeze, let sry over night to 24 hours,ENJOY. There is a few more great tips in my report. I'll get it up ASAP, but I am very busy lately so if I have to re-write it mayt take a bit. Hope this helped some
i think before i buy some "real" hash making equip ill try the papar towel squeeze an swee how well i do. i think i was mostly gettin tired of my filters cloggin up an water not flowing through.
