Well I recently got a 250 w hps. The girls have been loving it. Floros dont even come close to an hps in terms of growth. Is the bulb provided by insidesun.com a good bulb? I know diff bulbs provide diff spectrum of light. I got a GE lucalox but am not sure what spectrum it emits or the quality of bulb. Its probably fine but just wandering. Im just about to start flowering. What spectrum is best?(blue, red???) How can I tell what spectrum my bulb is?
Most lights (HPS, MH, flo's) emit light in both the blue and red spectrum. What matters is the ratio. HPS put out more light in the red spectrum than MH. Some more expensive HPS bulbs put out just as much red and add more blue(the Agro-Sun for example). These full-spectrum bulbs are preferable to standard HPS.
i like veg with a 1000w agro sun and take it two weeks into 12/12. that way they get the MH with a dash of HPS together. then switch to a pure HPS for onset and final flowering. but i like em big.
