well today I was cooking my second batch of oil using the alcohol method, the first time I used a brown pyrex bowl, but this time I used a clear pyrex bowl, but this time while it was about 7mins into the cooking process (at low temp) the glass bursted and steam rolled out, luckily I didnt have a fire to look after.. so im just wondering how long it will take for the alochol to evapourate if I were just to let my next batch sit and evapourate without added heat
In the future Put your pyrex dish on top of a pot of boiling water. I couldn't say how long it will take to evaporate, but I do half pound washes with about a gallon of ISO, it takes 3 or 4 hours over the pot of boiling water....depending on the amount of alcohol, you are probably looking at a couple of days or more
I was thinking more than a couple days aswell, and thanks for the double boiling technique.. Since I wont be hurting for this batch of oil Im kind of eger to see the outcome when letting it evaporate naturally, has anyone else done it? or is it going to be just the same
Well, it tends to get a little darker when you toast it to the bottom....maybe you'll end up with a nicer golden color
yah,this batch i used 30gs of weed, you may think its stupid but I enjoy a change, A couple weeks ago i made it with my shake and some immature buds, and i would be baked off a couple spliffs of that, i cant wait for this stuff to be done
