Does anyone use Cutting Edge Solutions nutrients? I wanted to try out a sweetener/carb product because my last grow was a little tasteless. The owner of the local hydro store recommended "Sugaree" from cutting edge. I picked up a bottle and plan to use it in the second half of flower. I don't want candy, just a little flavor.

Here's the bottle. I couldn't find much info on it other than its OMRI listed. Smells extremely sweet. I don't think I'll be going full strength.

Ive seen that in the store... but all their other bottles are clear. but they only have 3 additives listed on the website and dont mention the sugarfree at all, not even in the feed schedule

The owner of the hydro shop said the guy that started cutting edge worked for gh and copied their formulas. The have a three part thats the same thing as gh and half the price but I'm doing so well with useless' formula I'm afraid to change.

Forgive me for not being as educated in the green art as you guys, but I thought you couldn't put molasses in a hydro system? I used it religiously when I grew in soil, but I was told it would gunk up a flood table.

I wasn't implying that you were snooty. Sorry. I was honestly giving you guys props by saying that I'm not as educated in gardening. Words have a funny way of biting you in the ass some times. Sorry.

:roffl::redbong: s'all good. I don't know shit about hydro. Just like folks to know what they're spending all their hard earned $$ on and get a kick out of the hyped marketing. If a company found a way to make molasses safe for hydro they deserve a few bucks premium.

Looks like I fell prey to the sales person at the hydro store. I contacted cutting edge and they told me sugaree is just a carb replacement and wont add flavor. It smells sweet like cotton candy. Hopefully the strain I'm growing now will have a better flavor than the last one. I'm not buing any more aditives.

You can't add anything to increase flavor in a strain aside from the proper nutrients for healthy growth and flower development. There is no such thing as a flavor additive or enhancer.

In my experience flavor is dictated by the genetics of the plant. Not by sweeteners or carbs you add to the nutrient mix.

You want tasty?!? COme taste this Tahoe I just jarred up! It will coat your palette with a potent flavor that's unmistakably OG

    flavor enhancer

The name flavor enhancer is just a legal way of saying it will frost up your weed plant. It's just potassium and carbohydrates. It does help to bring out the natural flavors and essential oils. Something like molasses, Floranectar, Bud Candy, Sugar Daddy

I'll try and snap some pics of the dry buds. I didn't take any more pics of the plants throughout the grow and I kind of lost interest in updating my threads. Maybe I'll get some pics thrown up.

I will say this though. It is the best ganja I have smoked in a while. Since I lost my Master Kush and Super Silver Haze I have been searching for something worthwhile and this is great herb from Cali Connection.:passsit:

The plants will benefit from the actual nutrients in things like molasses i.e.:potassium, Calcium, Phosphorus, however the carbs and sugars are not directly used by the plants in their raw forms. They are essentially feeding the microbes i.e.:Mycorrhizae, Trichoderma, Beneficial Bacteria etc, that exist within the Rhizosphere therefore creating a healthier and more robust population of these beneficial microbes which in turn assist the plant in better absorbing the nutrients that are in the soil. :passsit: Adding these things to your grow is not a bad idea or anything. But you need to understand that they may indirectly increase the overall trichome, essential oil and turpine production in a plant, it's not a direct effect of any sugars or sweeteners in the additive that are "Increasing" or "Adding" Flavor it's just enhancing the health of the soil thereby creating a healthier plant. If a plant just has a weak flavor or aroma in general due to it's genetics, it's not going to all of a sudden gain a much more potent flavor or aroma simply from adding something sweet to the soil or hydro mix. :passsit:
