Design for an outdoor herb box?

Hi Guys! It's been a while!

I have a question for the DIYers out here. I have wanted to build an outdoor herb tray with a moderately high capacity for quite some time. I can't grow pot anymore, but I really miss playing with the dirt.

Unfortunately, I have almost no experience in building this sort of thing, and I have a lot of limitations on how it has to be designed:

    1) I'm going to be moving in the middle of the summer, so it has to be something that can be taken down, moved, and put back up rather easily. I was thinking a PVC pipe frame would work best for this sort of thing, but I have a lot of wind in my area and I'm not sure how that would work out if I did any sort of vertical grow.

    2) The area I live in has lower light and a lot of rain, so anything I build is going to have to take max advantage of the available light and also have good drainage.

    3) I don't know what sized apartment/building I'm going to move in to or how much porch space I'll have, so the planter has to have a relatively low footprint. I'd prefer only 4-5'x~2-3'. Vertical height needs to be about 4-5' max before plants are put in.

    4) I'm looking for lower maintenance, meaning I'd prefer if the planters were big enough for me to mix in soil amendments so I don't have to fertilize it. I'd also like to minimize watering and do it without a pump if possible.

    5) The materials have to be reasonably priced. I could spend as much as $200 but I'd rather at least have the planter before soil built for $100. If necessary I still have access to a lot of my old growing equipment but it's pretty much indoors stuff only.

Do you guys have any suggestions?

I've thought about building a 4x4 flood and drain table out of wood and using pvc shower pan liner to waterproof it. maybe you could do something like that. since it will be wood you can make it whatever size you want, the shower pan material is 4 foot wide by whatever length you want and they sell glue for it for any seams but if you fold the corners you don't need it.

Thanks! That's a thought. I'll still have to see about it but that sounds like what I was looking for. I was considering pond tarp or whatever it's called, but as I recall that's kinda expensive.
