I really really liked the Chunky perlite I used last time. It was awesome for hempy and, as far as I know worked fine in the soil. I'm doing soil again this time. What is the best to use you guys?
I'll probably go with Coarse or Chunky, the fine tends to be so darn powdery. =D Feel free everyone. Chime in.
I used to like the bigger stuff because it drains so much better but I also found that the finer stuff holds alot more water than the large. :beerchug-2: Teamster6
I have only grown in soil. To be honest I didn't know there were different "grades". Holy shit I learned something new today.
chunky best to use large ,as it will give better porosity, if thats what you need. For soil mixes i use large perlite, coir ,a 7 mix type of compost and a very very good potting mix with no added fert .works great.
I have used the chunky and didn't notice ANY difference between it and the regular stuff. so, for the price difference, I just go with the plain smaller perilite. Since it didn't matter what size the perilite was, I figured, why spend the extra :$ $$: to get the exact same results. Another reason I didn't like the big chinks was because it floats and when I was watering it was always flowing over the sides of the pot and onto the floor. The smaller chunks don't seem to do that. So for me it's a no-brainer to use the regular sized perilite. Just my experience. I hope it has been of some help to you.
