I have 4 girls about 30 days into 12/12. They are all looking healthy but 2 of them have begun to turn a deep shade of green and have a real glossy look to them. They are all bagseed so i dont know what strain but all plants came from same bag. I have crystals everywhere on all 4 plants and colas are getting bigger every day. so I'm not too worried, just curious what this could be. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Though I never (sniff) got to see my plants get that old, as far as I know it's completely normal. I mean look at the pictures of plants from the more experienced guys in here...they always look glossy and dark green. That's cool dude, I bet you're gettin pumped watchin them flower!
That does sound like a healthy plant, but it also means there is a lot of N in the soil. What ferts are you using? Remember that towards the end of flower you want to cut out all N to help the final budding and ensure a fine tasting crop.
I use Metanaturals 1-5-5 for flowering. It has a small amount of N in it, but 420Solo told me of a 0-12-0 fert but I forget the name. I rely on the flush 2 weeks prior to harvest to rid the plants of N.
Thanks everyone. Herb, I'm actually using Peters Blossom Booster8-16-8,1st & 3rd week of 12/12. I figure I've got 1 more fert dose before I harvest, but should i look for a really low N fert, high in p? Any suggestions. Should I ski p the last fert and just flush the last 2 weeks? And Herb, thanks for the kind words, wish I had a digi cam to show you these things. Thanks GK for all the help
X i have never done a chem grow to harvest that was successful so my knowledge there is pretty slim. Give them a good flush 2 weeks prior to harvest and you should be fine.
Thanks herb , but I'm a little confused. You said u never had a successful grow with chems, but u use a 1-5-5 metanaturals fert 4 flowering. What type of medium are u growing in?
X the Metanaturals are organic ferts...not chem ferts. When I first started I was using chem ferts and was not successful with them due to my lack of knowledge. The soil I use is Black Gold BTW.
Just to pop in my 2 sense (lol), it could be the strain. My Garlic Bud gets a super dark green, really glossy looking . It almost looks like its plastic. It will change at the very end though. But not until 2-3 days before harvest. The Ak-47's, Blue Dragon etc. I had in the past started yellowing in the last two weeks. Maybe the garlic just requires a lot less nitrogen to grow?
