Just thought I'd share a pic of the reason I haven't been logged in very much lately, I got a boat a couple of months back and I've been trying to hang out with these guys That 22 inch speckled trout (my biggest speck so far) was caught and released Friday
Cool, I've never seen a speckled trout before. Here in the mountains where I live there's trout streams everywhere. Mostly stocked by the game dept with Rainbow and brown. And then the native brook trout that are a challenge but a blast to catch. Happy fishing my friend!!!! Be Cool, CG
That be a salt H2O fishie CG. Nice fish GiT, that's a fine piece for the grill with a little roast corn. MMmmmm mmmm.
Oh, that's why I've never seen one.:eusa_eh: That would be a monster in the little streams here. Nice catch GIT!! Be Cool, CG
nice catch. my wife got me a pole for fathers day, trying it out this weekend. Doubt i will have fish like that to brag about....nice haul. And thanks for the release, if you don't eat it, don't kill it.....unless it's bigfoot, i'm shooting bigfoot if i ever seen him
Thanks, Last Friday was a awesome day to be on the bay. We watched a group of dolphins probly 10-15 pushing fish up to the top and it was like explosions with the dolphins tearing up the surface of the water. It's awesome for the wife and myself to get out and just enjoy being out in it. Our kids are grown with kids of their own so it's cool for just us to be able to go out on the boat and just relax.
Hell yeah Nippie, what kinda water is in your area? I'm about 30 minutes from salt and a little over an hour to a couple of lakes. I'm glad we had our kids when we were young but, I feel bad sometimes because we could offer so much more to them at this point and time in life but hey, the never needed for anything growing up. I was kinda nervous hearing stories about parents finding out they don't like each other after the kids are gone but, we've been best friends since we met and it hasn't changed. thank god, I don't think another woman could/would put up with me lol
good for you, my wife has always been my best friend and it was really nice spending 5 days with just her on vacation as far as water, we have rivers, the ohio, lol, but lots of lakes around. my family owns a place at lake cumberland we go to a lot. just bought a new boat (nothing fancy, just a pontoon) to fish and swim off of.
Got two who refused to put up with my shit.....of course they both took half my shit with them:wtf?: Now it's weekend "marriages". Buy-em dinner Friday, a dress Saturday, and kick-em out in time for NFL on Sunday. I you're fishing trout there must be redfish and snook around you too GiT. What's your season there?
awesome, I had 1500 for a boat so I found an old boat for 1k and did some upgrades and much needed maintenance, next year we'll get a nice more expensive bay boat but there's allot of shallow oyster reefs and sand bars just out in the middle of the open bay that you would think would be like the middle of a lake. It goes from 5 foot to 8 inches in a hurry I found out one night, luckily I was being cautious and going slow, me and my nephew jumped out into ankle deep water and pushed it off with no problem. Did it once more before we got across the bay. Until I learn the water I don't want/need an expensive boat. My wife wants a pontoon, they just wanted to much for the ones we found for sale.
I hear ya on the ex thing man, I always just walked away with a trash bag full of my shit lol. No snook in my part of the gulf, they skip past and go south to Matagorta bay area. Redfish is my favorite, Damn things fight like I used to.
Good looking fish. I got a few spots where you can catch specks and reds all day, right off a reef. You need to get a depth finder if you're planning on being adventurous in the water around here. Using shrimp as bait or you a plastic fella? I'm about 5 minutes from the salt.
You got grouper up in your parts? There's some cats I'd watch in Fla where my folks lived who fish under the bridges for giant grouper.
Would have been good thrown on the smoker! Nice looking fish... Main reason I stay in Fl, Besides the great fishing, I always take my crab traps, shrimp nets and also grab some clams or oysters, depending on the tide, water temp and how drunk I get.... I think intercoastal fishing is best unless your 20 miles out and why go that far unless your diving/spearing or comercial fishing.
Jugg the first thing I got was a depth finder, funny thing about those is the transducer is mounted in the REAR of the boat. If you want to go sometime let me know, the invite is always open. Res, I ain't got no interest in fishing for big game fish like that. I've caught big bull redfish and it's not as fun as you'd think lol. I have a brother in N.W Fla. I want to haul the boat up there to see if it's all that I see on tv fishing shows. Plus I've never seen clear ocean water before because I grew up on the upper Tx coast,
Thats a great deal (boat) for $1,000 If you take that boat under the bridges and scrape the barnacles of the pylons you will get some nice sheepheads if you like those. That boat will go aways out in the gulf there.
